Hey,
Anyone have the new 910 driver with the Aldila RIP 60 Stiff shaft? I'm thinking of getting that shaft in my new 910 D3 (can't order it in the Netherlands yet!), but just wanted some of your thoughts on the shaft, by anyone who has it. How does it feel?
I have a Grafalloy Blue Stiff in my 905T and I love that shaft, but unfortunately they don't make it anymore. Looking at the specs, the Aldila RIP 60 is the closest thing to it. If you think I should check out other shafts then let me know!
Thanks,
John
Definitely get the Aldila RIP 60g stiff. I have it on my 910D3 and i hit it great. I've added 15 yards by switching. Its $300 for a RIP shaft separate and Titleist is offering it as a standard shaft which is AMAZING!!!
Here is my take on the RIP Shaft. I currently have the 910 D3 with the 60 RIP in stiff and I do not care for the feel of this shaft. To me, it is not very consistent and has zero feel. The feel to me is very dead and kinda boardy. The spin rate is ok and the launch is ok but I just hate the feel.
I just ordered and hopefully it will come in this week or early next week the Oban Devolution 6 in stiff flex. I am hoping that this shaft will perform like my Rombax W 6W06 shaft I play in my other driver. I love the look, feel and adjustability of the 910 D3 head so hopefully this shaft is the correct one and plays like my Rombax. I tried to order the Rombax but it is an older shaft and Titleist did not test it and therefore does not carry it for the 910's.
I've had a different experience with the Aldila RIP 60 stiff. I love the feel of the shaft, to me it's very smooth and I can absolutely control my shots. I have not experienced a boardy feel as you mentioned, I did play a Graffaloy Pro Launch Red shaft in my 909 D3 and that shaft was definitely boardy to me. My SS is 102 to 105 not sure what your swing speed is but again I really like the Aldila RIP.
Had a chance to demo the 910 D2 with the Aldila RIP 60 stiff over the T-day holiday. Hit it on the range and played it for 18 holes. I liked the trajectory of my ball flight (low and boring). I liked the feel of the club head however the shaft felt a bit whippy for me. I currently play a R9 460 with a voodoo vns6 stiff. The tip of the RIP didn't feel as stiff as the voodoo so I didn't feel like I could swing hard down the line without occasionally hooking it. I did not adjust the clubhead!
I have the 910 D2 9.5, with the RIP 60 stiff. I tend to hit the ball with a big draw, some times a hook that I am trying to get rid of. I have my 910 with a D4 setting now and with 11 degrees of loft and the flatter lie I am actually hitting the ball much straighter and longer with an occasional fade. I love the shaft and the low torque. Feels amazing to me, but that is why they have choices, we are all different. Good luck finding your match.
Just got my new 910 D2 driver a couple of weeks ago with RIP shaft. For me this shaft being a little lighter in weight has help me pick up a small amount of club head speed. I am actually hitting this driver with the RIP shaft about 12- 15 yards further than my 909 D2. Also have gained a better ball trajectory.
I have the exact same set up in my 905T - Graffaloy Blue s flex. It's tipped and perfect for how I swing.
I was told by the Titleist rep out at the course that the RIP 70 would match up with my current set up nicely. Will get fitted when the weather gets a bit warmer.
what swing speed are you guys at?
i was at 108-110mph
I also love the graf bluestiff in my 983k. 8.5
Stupidly ordered off ebay a 70x rip to put in my 909d3 8.5 and its way too stiff for me.
My lesson learnt is to get fitted which i will be doing in jan/feb, and stop wasting cash on shafts that i dont know if they'll fit without going on the launch monitor
I just purchased the 910D3 w/ the Aldila RIP60S D2 setting. I love the feel. I don't have to swing as hard to get my swing speed up to 110mph. Great combination between the Titleist head and the RIP shaft. The feeling is fantabulous! I've been playing the Cobra S2 w/ the Fujikura shaft. Great club but doeasn't come close to the 910D3. Titleist has many stock shaft options. Try all of them and allow yourself a couple of hours to determine which one is best for you.
I got the 910D2 with a RIP, I got the x Stiff 60. Great shaft, very accurate for me.
I just got the 910 D3 8.5 with the RIP 70 stiff shaft. Absolutely love the set up. My carry increased 15 yards and spin rate dropped a touch. I have only been able to hit the driver in a dome, but I love the feel, look and sound of the driver. Can't wait for Spring!
I test hit the 910 D3 with the RIP 60 shaft and it was nice. That shaft was the best of the ones I hit, and it felt best on all types of hits, off center and flush. Good luck, hope you find one that works for you.
I went with the RIP 65 Stiff just because I needed a little heavier shaft to help ball flight but the Aldila RIP is the way to go no matter the weight!
what does the RIP claim it will do? lower sidespin or backspin? why do people pick up 15 yds.? I like the way it looks out of all the stock shafts the 910offers .... not that....that means anything! I have the voodoo in the 909D2 and i like the feel are they similar?
