today i was playing around with the settings on my D3 and when i went to set it on the A4 setting and the screw was about to lock, the shaft and screw would kind of like pop and then separate and be hard to remove. now i can't put it on any other setting! I NEED A SOLUTION FAST! I HAVE THE BIGGEST TOURNAMENT OF MY LIFE TOMORROW!
Sounds like you stripped the threads out. So shaft is no longer good.
Oh my!
It's possible that the screw is not straight. Go ahead and reset, put the shaft on A-4. Hold the shaft straight up. Take the driver and just give it a little shake to make sure the screw settles in straight. You can put your finger in there and make sure it's settle down. From there, put the driver on the shaft making sure it's going straight down as well...90 degrees straight down upon the the perfectly straight up shaft.
Try that. Let us know.

actually no i didn't. the other guy was right, the screw wasn't in straight.
What about a replacement set screw. Simliar problem, but my screw snapped. I was able to retrieve the balance of the screw from the shaft. Now, just need a replacement set screw.
Great Driver too!

Did you manage to get a replacement Screw. I have damaged mine to. Jack
