6.0 still is a bit stiff for a 160-165 yard 7 iron. Try it on a launch monitor first.

Since my last post, I have the 910F 19* set at B3, a 910H 24* set at A2 (and 38.5" shaft length and Winn Lite Dri Tac grip), 910H 27* at B3. I also had to space my 7-8-9 irons 1* apart in lie angle (63*, 64*, 65*) vice the standard 1/2* - this is a close match for Eye 2 Blue Dot. The 34H is now a backup club since I hit the 7 iron very clean.

I've also had a thought of simplifying the Sm cc GW (49-07; 50-08 bent 1* strong) and SW (54-14) to SM4 52-12 (possibly bent 1* weak). I have an SM4 60-10 (bent 1* strong) that has become my around the green weapon (I use it in soft and hard bunkers and mainly within 40 yards of the pin with tight position). The "howevers" are as follows: 1. I use the 49 for a lot of bump n run shots and it is less of a chore for shots between 60-80 yards vs the SW (pitch vs full swing with latter). 2. The 54 is available for super soft bunkers and I can lag up to the pin from 25 yards in (I can also do a dig shot off a tight lie).

If your PW is 47, 54 and 60 is a good setup. I played with 47 and 55 with my DIY clubs for 2 1/2 years and got rather adept with the PW.

Also, you can have the best of both (4 wedge setup and distance gaps filled at the top end) by going with a 17-18* fairway wood and 21* hybrid. There are more opportunities to hit the 17* off the deck vs using a 15* 3 wood and the yardage is maybe 5-7 yards different. I carried 975F 16.5 and 20.5 fairways for 3 years.

Other possibility is to change the 4 iron for a 24* hybrid. You can choke down slightly on the 18H to fill the in between and also do the same with the 24H for the gap between it and the 5 iron.

You have a big gap from your 4 iron to your hybrid. If I were you I would go with a 21* hybrid. That will fill that distance nicely, and especially if your wedge distance is solid it would benifit more. However it also depends on your game. On my course I'm not not usually playing from that distance. It just depends on your game, and where you will be playing a majority of your shots from.

Ya, I would throw in a 3 iron or another hybrid (depending on your prefrence) because that's just too big of a gap. Also I'm not sure what wedge set-up you have, guessing PW, 52, 56, 60. If you were to take my advice and only play 3 wedges and get a club for your gap, you could play something like PW, 52, 58. This is what I did about a year ago and it's worked out well.

A 150 yd 7 iron with "player" loft seems like Project X 6.0 is a bit on the stiff side (maybe 5.0 may gain 5-10 yards). I use R300 HL on an AP1 (which is about 1/2 club stronger) and get about 145 yards. 6.0 is stiff + and 5.0 is regular +. What is your shaft flex on the driver, fww and hybrid.

I'm a confirme 4 wedge player. You can always choke down on the 18 hybrid to cover the gap (remember 10 yards per 1/2 inch choke down). Like I've said in my other post, my wedges are AP1 PW (45), SM c-c 50-08 (49), SM c-c 54-14 and SM4 60-10 (59). The SM4 has been indispensible.

Replaced the 5-18 fairway and 4-21 H with 910F 19* fw set to D3. Replaced the 7 iron with my trusty Louisville HL3 34* persimmon hybrid (was sticking greens like crazy last golf game and even got a birdie).

I agree on 21H.

I have driver, 5-18 fairway, 4-21H, 6-27H, AP1 7-PW, Vokey SM3 50-08 (bent to 49 and shortened to 35.25") and 54-14, SM4 60-10 (bent to 59). Gaps are good. Don't carry a 3 wood since I have a lofted draw driver (also, fairways are a bit closely cropped on most of the courses in San Diego).

The Vokey 50-08 tricked up has the same swingweight as an 48-06 but is 1/2" shorter and the distance control is tremendous. The SM4 has proven to be a great greenside bunker club (and it even gets the ball out of The Bunker From Hell) .

I'm 56 and starting to make my transition from the blue tees to the white tees (looking at overall course distance) I've taken out my hybrid and added a 4th wedge....My irons are AP1 4-gap wedge. I found that I was rarely using my hybrid except off the tee...I still carry a 3 and 5 wood along with my driver. I think that 4 wedges is the way to go...

Almost the same setup as mine. Distance wise, pretty close as well. Looks like you need a 185-195 yds club. I say a 3 iron or a 21 degree hybrid would fill that gap. You have to take care of your long game as well. Depending on your wedge set up, you have to make sure that you fill your wedge degree gaps as well. Starting with your 9 iron to PW to GW to SW or LW.

I have a 712 AP2 4 & 5 iron, and 712 CB 6-9 iron.

My setup is a 15* fairway, 18*hybrid, 22*hybrid (503H)... long game

then SM4 wedges 48*(bent 47*), 52* and 58*(bent 57*)... for short game
