  1. Just curious any lefties take on these two sets.  I've gamed the 731's since they came out.  I love them, but the idea of new irons is always in the back of my mind.  The 712's would have to blow my mind to take the 731's spot.  I'll likely just try them back to back, but wanted to get others take who may have already done so.

Thanks for any and all input.

I don't know if this will help.  I have had the 731, 690.MB and the ZM blades.  Right now I play the 710 MB and are my favorite of the the bunch.  I would say for me the 731 were my least favorite.  The only downside I could see to switching is the lofts of the 712 are not as strong as the 731.

I went from 731 to 690 .MB to 710 MB. Love them all and in my opinion the 710 irons play a little harder than 731 irons. It could the different setup in shafts maybe. Play X-stiff UST Tourweight graphite in the 731 set and DG X100 steel in my 710 set. Sometimes I bring out the 731 set and sense a bit more forgiveness compared to the 710 irons. But if you play well with your 731 irons you shouldn´t have any problems going to 712 irons. Good luck

    Thanks for the feedback.

That really was the only downside I felt (granted I hit them well) is that the lofts are different.  I have my irons pretty dialed in distance wise.

Any noticable difference in forgiveness between the 731 and 710?

I play DGS300 steel in my 731's.  I guess the graphite vs steel shaft could make a bit of difference in the forgiveness.

Given the lofts, did you see a big change in difference distance wise between the 731 and 710?  I guess it wouldn't be completely apples to apples given one had graphite.

    Thanks for the input.

I ordered my 710 set with 1 degree stronger loft just like the 731 irons and continued hitting the same distance. The UST graphite shafts play really close to DG X100.

Ok that is good to hear.  If I end up going this approach I'm definitely getting them bent.

Is it 1 degree stronger gives 1 degree less bounce?  Or other way around?

    I would say less bounce.

^---- This is basically the type of setup I'm looking at.

You know the 712u wasn't even on my radar until two days ago when I saw a review online.  I've always had trouble with the 3 and 4 iron.  Currently hitting 913H 19 & 22.5 in place of the 3 and 4.  I believe these driving irons might be a good middle ground.  Currently hitting my 22.5H around 205, so hoping the 4u will go around that.

What kind of yardage gap did you see between the 5i and 4u?

Your set will be the same as mine as I'm getting 5-P 1 degree stronger.  So my 5i will be 26 and 4u will be 24.

I went and hit the AP2's, CB's and MB's last night.  MB's are definitely the ones.  They actually feel a little more forgiving than my 731's, don't know if that was just in my head or not.

Played a 910 H 19 degree aprox. 225 and my 710 4 iron 200 and I get the same distance with the 712 U irons. But the 712 U irons are much easier to hit from light rough and I can make them stop even from 200 yards out.

Awesome, that helps me a lot.  This should fit perfect in the set then.  Your distances are very similar to mine, 19H - 220 and 22.5H - 205.  My 5i goes about 190 at 26*.

Thanks for all the info Lars, this has helped me greatly.

Ha, right on!  Not enough of us on this earth.

    Actually one other question.

Your 5 is bent to 26* correct?

Can I assume you hit it around 190?

Thanks again, real excited to get these new clubs.
