  1. I have a Titleist Titanium 983K  Driver...8.5*   that a friend of mine sold me a few years back. Yes , it's old. But it So fits me and my game that i have put aside my R11 driver that i purchased about 1 yr or so ago.

The R11 is not a bad driver, but for my high swing speed - and height ( im 6'5) its just a very weak and light driver.

The confidence i have with this club - hitting it an Avg of 300-330 -- is so high, that i am actually looking for the updated version..

My question to the TEAM is... What is the UPDATED- newer version- of the Titanium 983 K? If there is one such as the R11 to R11s to R 1....as an example please let me know !

I am not a Titleist "buff" as they say, but I hope that i can get some help. I am ready to trade in my R11 and get the newer and/or equally built driver.

    Thank you !

913 D3 is probably what you are looking for.

  3. Ruben. !

thank you for your reply !!! I  will most definetely look into it and see if it feels and hits the same as the 983 k

I played today - duh-...lol and Crushed the ball over and over with my 983...making me wonder why even look for a replacement.

but thank you for your response !!

The "updated" version of the Titleist 983k driver would be the Titleist pro titanium 905 driver. The 905 was the model made after the 983k. I know what you mean with the old drivers. I currently play the Titleist 975d from 2000. They're not as forgiving as the new 913 drivers or the 910s. If you hit the 983k well and aren't looking for more forgiveness, I would consider looking into a 905. The 905T would probably be the closest as it has a 400cc clubhead and the 983k has a 365cc clubhead. Good luck finding one new or good condition used. They really are great drivers!

    Luigi,

If you average 300-330 I think you better get a sponsorship with Adams Golf and hit the long drive tour, because that's HUGE!.

That said, I second the 913 D3.  Even the 910 D3 would be a good choice.

  7. Thank you for your response Christian...!

I will def. look into the  913 D3...

As of right now, i am extremely happy with the driver as is, but i will def. look into it and maybe do an upgrade by late fall/ early spring..

About the long drive tour...do u have any info on that? how to qualify ? where to go?

I live in lame/ boring Murfreesboro TN ...so we dont have awesome things like that come out our way.. LOL

Id appreciate a reply with any additional leads you can provide...

    Thank you

Luigi, like you, I played the 983K for a loooooooong time as I couldn't find a better driver out there. That was until the 910 D3. The only thing I prefer about the 983K over the 910D3 is the ability to hit the 983K "off the deck". I suggest you try the 910 D3 or 913 D3 and see how you like the way they feel. Given your height, please get fitted for the correct shaft and loft setting. Aside from that, You may decide to stay with the 983K. FYI - I'm told there are a few tour pros still using the 983K.

  9. Thank you for your response Fred.!

I will def. look into your info and see if the new driver can give me the same feel / club speed and accuracy that ive been getting from my 983 K

I will keep using my 983 till it breaks on me..lol

thanks for your time  and response !

I went from the 983 to a r7 to a 909d3. I'm about 6'4" and swing 120+ & driver goes consistency over 300 if there is a few yards of roll. I got a 909d3 for $150 a couple years ago after r7 stock stiff shaft broke at hosel lol put a fubuki tour 73 x stiff in it pured and it is amazing! Could be maybe a little stiffer but almost spot on. If you don't care about the adjustments on the newer drivers pick up a 909 & put your money where it matters in your shaft instead of having a 913 with a stock shaft get a 909 with a custom shaft for your swing speed

  11. Thank you very much for your reply  Luke !, One of the best answers yet !

That does make sense and again, its a window shopping situation for me right now since the 983 K is still FIRE for me. ..lol

I may get the impulse and look fro the 909 late Winter - when its on sale or something- and add the shaft to it.. I def. need a stiff or stiff flex shaft for my high swing speed. - since im 6"5 and have a long wind up as yours.

i recently put some KBS tour shafts on all my irons and wedges...and i can def tell the difference between the stock = default- shaft from TM and the KBS... So adding a new, better shaft on a driver, even the 983 K may be the way to go.

Thank you again fro your response !!!

Hi Luigi.I got a 975D in April of 2000 that had a True Temper EI70 shaft in it..It was the best driver I had ever hit..In June of 2009 I bought a 905R with a Pro Force V2 shaft  76grams and 2.2 torque..i was looking for tighter shot dispersion ..Wanted improved accuracy as I got older so I could score better..This is the best purchase I have made..I love this driver..Got it on Ebay for $89 and it is fabulous...I will probably not get another driver unless someone gives me one..This one is so pure..It looks a bit like the 983K..I saw a 983K in a pro shop the other day and almost bought it for my son.

The shaft is very important so make sure you check it out..I have a correction,I did try the 905T for a while and did not like it..Didnt feel as solid as the R version and the face bias is a bit different..I researched many shafts before I settled on the ProForce...Good luck with your choice..Don

no problem man. and i have been fighting a little bit of a fade lately. normally moves just a tad to the right if any but lately been worse. its so hard when you are tall with long arms and swing the club 120ish mph lol and the next set of blades i get will be custom fitted right down to the shaft. I dont have enoguh cash to drop on new forged blades fitted though! And i had that 983K with the orange x stiff shaft that KJ Choi played and could bomb that thing but let a friend on golf team use it and he disappeared  with club and my beloved shaft! :( Last time that will happen!

But yeah man get a newer driver with custom shaft it will do wonders!
