I have a reasonably new set of AP1 712's that I do pretty well with but I am wondering if I should upgrade to the new 714's. I have read the specs, regarding the differences between the two, but are those subtle changes in technology really worth the cost of upgrading? Has anyone else upgraded and noticed a big difference in their game (i.e. distance, accuracy, forgiveness, etc.)?

Good question Smitty. I was wondering the same thing. I've had my 712 AP1's about 8-9 months now, and although a new set of irons are always great to have, it seems like a lot of money to spend if there isn't much if any improvement to be had. Thanks for asking this question, and I'll be looking for an answer.

I have the 712s also and love them. I have tried the 714s and feel just as great if not better. The improved look is really nice. I dont believe it is worth the money though if you set is only 8 months old

The 712 AP1's were titleist's best selling iron of the series for a reason. I had a set that I gave to my wife. She has a lot of $20.00 bills with my name on them using those irons.

I have hit both and the biggest difference is that the shorter scoring irons are smaller. That is something I like.  I would get the AP2s in the scoring irons and go AP1 in the long irons.

Thought about going that route when I bought my 714 AP2s, but stayed true to the AP2s and went 5-PW.  Love'em......love the look, feel and performance of the APs....

Hey Smitty...I was wondering if you made the change to the 714 irons after all. I have the 712's and have been considering it myself...thanks!

I had the 712 AP1 w/65g shaft.  Had somr swing changes had a business trip to Fairhavrn,MA so got a Manchester Lane.  Specked into a different shaft.  The cost of resafting was close to getting new and selling the 712s.  Not planning on the 716s - unless I change enough but the new shafts are working out great sp far this year.
