Finally had a decent day here in Cincinnati yesterday so I decided to hit the driving range.  About mid way through my practice session I took a swing with my 5 iron and wouldn't you know it,  the shaft snapped on me.  About 4-5" from the top of the shaft, inside my grip.

I've been contemplating replacing my 710 MBs with a set of AP2.  I think this was a sign.......  :)

    Andrew,

Great to hear you are out swinging, too bad about the shaft breaking.  I have gone from the 710 AP's to a split set of 712's MB / CB to a full MB set, now back to a new 714 AP2.  I haven't played the new set yet as we are still under a foot of snow here in MA, but I have tried my 6 iron on the Foot Joy Shoe Box Simulator.  I was averaging about 6-7 addtional yards on the new iron.  I also changed my shafts from KBS tour to the KBS C-Taper Tour so that may have helped as well.

As you state in your last sentence.....It is a sign.  Go get a new set of shinny 714 AP2's and you will not regret your decision.

    Good luck,

    -brian

Yeah I was extremely excited to have a few nice days here.  Made it to the range twice and hit about 600 balls between both sessions.  Hopefully the weather will make a more permanent change soon as its supposed to drop back down and snow again this week.   I tried a few of the AP2s in a simulator this week, and noticed I actually lose a little distance due to the higher ball flight.  Loved the feel of them though.

You know the 714's are 2degrees stronger so that is main reason for additional distance.  Just FYI!  Enjoy thinking about upgrading myself this year from my 710AP2s.

Did not know that dealers were were authorized to discount Titleist clubs.  Best of luck if you can find them at a discount price.  Make sure that they are not knockoffs.

Hi Andrew,  Take your 5 iron into your local pro shop and have them call the Warranty department and set up an inspection for you.

  8. Sorry to hear about the shaft malfunction.

Demo days are just around the corner. The AP2's are on my short list as well but by all means check out the 714 CB's. These are terrific irons and I think they sometimes get lost in the shuffle. When I tried them both, I found the CB's to have a slightly lower ball flight (than the AP2's) but these CB's have more forgiveness than they show.
