I was fitted for AP irons last year and the fitter recommended that I get AP1s for my 6 and 7 irons, and AP2s for my 8,9, and PW. The problem is that my AP1 7 iron consistently flies 165 yds and my 8 iron AP2 only flies 145 yds. I am guessing that either the gaps between irons in the AP1 set are different than in the AP2, or that my 8 iron has been bent. Either way, I would like to find a site that tells me what the lofts on the 712 AP1s and AP2s should be so I can then see if my clubs are off. Do you know of such a site?

    Hi Jacques,

    Thank you for the question.

There is indeed a gap between the loft of the 712 AP1 7 iron and 712 AP2 8 iron.  The lofts of the four club you mentioned are listed below:

    712 AP1 6i - 29

    712 AP1 7i - 33

    712 AP2 8i - 39

    712 AP2 9i - 43

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Take care,

    Bubba

That was quick. Thanks for the reply. It explains a lot. I am guessing that my AP2 PW would then be 47 degrees. Next in my bag are a 52, 56 and 60. Based on the above, I would think the solution would be to bend my 8,9 and PW back one degree so that my 8= 38, 9= 42 and PW = 46. Is this what you would recommend? Or would you recommend that I bend them back 2 degrees? Other?

    Jacques,

You are correct, the Std. loft of the 712 AP2 is 47 degrees.

I would recommend bending your 8, 9 and PW 1 degree strong at first. See if this closes the gap more between your 7 and 8 irons.  Bending your 8, 9 and PW 2 strong may cause a gap issue between your PW and 52.

    Keep us up to date.

FYI: You can find specs for all previous models on the home page.  At the bottom of Titleist.com there is a link called "previous models" 712's and others will all be there. Or click www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/irons/AP2-712.aspx
