I'm thinking of picking up a used Titleist 913D2 (budget is short).  I did get fitted for this and my recommendation was 10.5 degree, blue 62 shaft, hosel setting at A2, stiff flex.

Here's my question, the club i'm looking at is 9.5 degree that has all my specs.

They do have a 10.5 degree but only available with a regular shaft.  Could i still get the 9.5 degree and adjust the hosel to 10.5 degree or would that not work?

IMO the shaft is the biggest key correct?

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for the question.

If you spent the time and effort to get fir for the right driver, I would strongly suggest making the investment in the exact setup you were fit for. You could technically add loft to the 9.5, but this would still create a different setup than the one you were fit for. Finally, the shaft and head are equally important. Even if only one of them is changed, it will create a different ball flight.

Hope this gives you some direction.

    Thanks,

    Bubba

Thank you Bubba for the response, that's all I needed to know.

I'll keep looking or keep saving :).

    Thanks again,

    Chris,

I am glad you are taking Bubba's advice. His advice is spot on in my opinion.

This is a good time to get what you want pretty close to the price you are looking for.

    Enjoy.

I too try to save money when I can, being retired.....the new 915s will be out in about four months and if Titleist holds to tradition the price will be the same which hopefully would mean they are going to be $100 more than the 913D2..........if you put aside $25 a month for that period, then bingo you have the latest in technology from Titleist.....just food for thought.......915D2 10.5.......have been saving like mad for the newest and hottest, the "915".......by the way....Bubba is da man.....or keeping looking for the 913 and save a $100 dollars.......

I second that advice. It's not just the loft that is different and I can say that based on my own experience of hitting different lofts with the same shaft. I tried all the lofts and the one I have is the one that felt the best to me and I was most consistent with. The head that is 1 degree higher, feels completely different and not right for me.

Save up and wait for the right setup even though it's tough to wait!

    Hi Chris,

Have you talked to the pro that fit you?  The 913 D2's were recently marked down to $299 in preparation of the 915's coming out.  Also some places online do not charge sales tax, so that could save you as well.

    Best of Luck!!

One thing to always ask when you go into a golf shop is; do you offer discounts to AARP or veterans.  Some offer 10% discounts to those groups if you qualify, which in some case would help defray the taxes on you purchases.  Just a heads up.  Just be prepared to show your ID.  I use my VA or AARP cards.

Thanks Chuck, also, you might try going to your city owned golf course in your town if you have one. In the city that I live in has 3 city owned golf courses, and anything that I buy there (clubs, balls clothing, etc.) has no tax added. I was fitted for my AP1's and my Camron putter there, and they ordered them for me with no tax added.
