  1. I am a 15 year old high school golfer and I am not sure what kind of Driver I should get. Should I get the SLDR, a png G30 or a new Titleist. Right now I have a TM burner superfast 2.0 but I am looking to upgrade before the next season ( I already made the team) Thanks, Ben

Heck, I'd get a used 910D before some of the other stuff. If money and time are no object, wait until the 915 comes out and find a fitter that does both png and Titleist outdoors. Your first choice you listed will be so last year in 6 months. What I love about Titleist is the broad availability of both standard and custom commercial shafts, and the technology is solid, not like lipstick on a sow. Or changing as fast as clothes fashions.

In that I am a Titleist guy and play all Titleist clubs, I lean towards the new 915D that will be coming out real soon.....but I would recommend that you go to a certified fitter and try a number of different shafts and heads and see what works best for you.......the new Titleist drivers (D2 and D3) should be out by November and are supposed to be hot.......if you get properly fit you will be happy in you confidence level and with the results.....while you are at it, take a look at their Hybrids, they are awesome..........cheers.......chuck

    Ben,

Why do you want to get a new driver? How do you hit your current driver? What ball do you play?

I know a lot of great players that play with "old" technology. The incremental improvements can be fairly minor at times. I still play a 910D3 (though I do not consider myself a great player).

I am with Chuck. The best thing to do is go to a fitter and try all the different clubs and shafts etc. The fitter will help you find the best driver for you.

If money is a bit tight then try to demo as many drivers as you can and see if the marketing of the brands actually is realized for your game. Sometimes you can get a discontinued model driver for a lot less money (the 913s are on sale right now for example) from an authorized retailer or proshop. I personally would not buy a driver from any other source.

Only you and the people who know your game or a certified fitter can really work with you in order to find the best driver for you,

I know this is not the answer you were hoping for but I hope this helps you not only find the best driver for you but also to do it in the most efficient financial way possible.

Best of luck with your competitive golf season. Play well and please keep us up on how your search for a driver progresses.

I would recommend a Cbra Bio cell. I'm 14 and I hit it nice and far. Also, it just looks cool!

Looking cool does not make a good driver.  I hope you went to a certified fitter and was properly fitted for your driver.  Additionally, I would recommend a Titleist driver, in that this is a Team Titleist forum.......I have tried them all and Titleist stays consistently in the fairway........was fitted........I like the black classic look and I can blow my ball past the Bio Cells with my 910D3.....not bad for a 68 year old guy.......

    Roch,

Chuck is right, looking cool does not make a good driver BUT the player has to like the look of their driver. As Chuck says (and I totally agree) he likes the black classic look.

I would recommend the best driver regardless of the site's brand affiliation. Personally, I love the Titleist drivers, but I would say that on a TM, png, or any other brand site. But that is my preference and it is not right or wrong.

Chuck is right, go to a fitter and find the best driver and shaft for you. The fitters are usually very good and helpful and it should help your game and limit the dollars spent by getting it right in the first place.

Good luck, let us know how things turn out.

Wait on the 915, I am. I've played the 913, tried the SLDR, played the png G25, and titleist products beat them all. Go on Ebay and you'll find more SLDRs than any other newer model driver out there. Not really a good testament for the SLDR, is it? SLDR is just marketing. It's a niche product that truly only helps a very few golfers; AND, they it doesn't provide anything you can't get from titleist.

Graham; When I see the commercials for the SLDRs it always reminds me of another commercial for an insurance co. that says "Old McDonald was a bad speller, and I always think of "Old McDonald" at the spelling Bee saying SLDRs ei,ei,oh.

Ben, if i were you i would just stay with the superfast 2.0. I've tried almost all of the new drivers and nothing can beat my r11.

Im 15 too what do you shoot?

    Hope this helps.

    Heath,

I like your style. You looked past all the marketing hype and found what is best for you. That is what it is all about. What performs best for you, the golfer.

Play well and enjoy this great game.
