Was looking for a little more height in my long irons and am thinking of switching to these irons. I was also looking for a little more forgiveness on my off days, I currently play pure blade irons from another manufacturer, noticed these have a wider sole, just curious as to how much more forgiving these will be in the longer 3-5 irons? Was thinking about upgrading to the Project X Pxi 6.0 shafts, all standard specs at D2 swingweight, hope the lighter shaft won't cause any issues with the build?
  2. You could do a combo set with MB/CB irons. A cavity back will usually be more forgiving than a pure blade. You're asking great questions . I recommend you getting a hold of your Titleist rep to schedule a fitting. He/she will be able to fit you into the best clubs for your game.

Thanks, I agree a combo set was an option I considered, however when looking at the set in the store it seemed to me that the progression was already built into this set. The cavity seemed shallow in the short irons then progressively got deeper into the longer irons.

Got fitted for the 3-P with PXI 6.0, received my clubs today, ordered thru my local pro. Went and played 18 holes, conditions were windy & 60*. These irons performed great, even the miss hits were on the green, according to the fitter it is the sign of a properly fitted shaft. I was able to hit the knockdown shots as well as hold the ball off into the side winds with slight draws or fades. I will have to get use to the lighter weight shafts, I was carrying the ball 1/2 club further. The overall performance of the 714cb was outstanding.

I play a set of older cbs now and I have never had such great success with my irons, especially my long irons. When the day comes and these are no longer playable. I new set of cbs will be going in my bag. I am wanting to get a titleist stand bag next.any suggestions?

Sorry, I carry the png Latitude stand bag, it has its own putter well with plenty of pockets and the dividers are just the way I like them, it also has a putter well. The bag works great as a cart bag also. I am waiting on Titleist to come out with a bag just like the latitude, I think it would be a great seller for them, I would get one. png bag filled totally with Titleist clubs.

What kind of things are you looking for in a bag? The Titleist 14-Way http://www.titleist.com/accessories/stand-bags/14-way-stand-bag.aspx  is nice, since you like stand bags. The dividers help protect your investments/shafts, etc.. There's a pocket to keep your water/snacks, cold. 4 pt. strap, which is very helpful in keeping the weight "evenly" distributed, so, that when you're walking, it's not putting pressure on, say, the right shoulder/side of your body. Rain hood included. Plenty of pockets. Very nice.
