    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has made the jump from the 710 to the 714 AP1 irons?  I have been considering the jump but want some feedback first.  Is there a noticable difference that justifies the upgrade?  Im not a big iron player as I mainly go from woods, hybrids, to wedges.  I have been fortunate enough with driver distance that unless im on a par 5, i use my vokey wedges.  During a round, I may use my 7 iron r 9 iron 3 times total.  I only carry a 6 thru 9 iron anyways but while at Golfsmith, I tried a 714 AP1 and it felt really good to hit.  I dont know if it is necessary for me to purchase a few 714 irons, but if I can get more consistannt shots and feel, I will do it.  Any feedback on both clubs would be geatly appreciated.  Especially if you made the transition from the 710 to the 714....

    Thank You..  Brian F.

    Hi Brian,

I made the change from 710 AP1s to 714 AP1s last Jan.  I got the 714s because I wanted the lighter weight XP95 steel shaft and I liked the finish and slightly different head shape of the 714s more. I had the 110 gram reg flex Nippon shaft in the 710s. The 93 gram reg flex XP 95 True Temper shaft in the 714S is 17 grams lighter. However, they still have that great Titleist clubhead feel throughout the swing   Because the total club weight is lighter it swings easier. I hit each club about 5 to 8 yards further. The short irons seem to have a slightly lower trajectory which makes them easier to control. I guess you can tell that I like the 714s better. However, if you are happy with the feel and performance of your 710s I would keep them. They are real good irons.

Amazing clubs. Have played DD gold all my life. The XP 95 does not disappoint for those of us who love steel shafts.

I too play steel shafted clubs and my choice is the XP 95 stiff.  Am 68 and still love the feel of steel.  When I was fitted they told me, Chuck you hit the ball too good for graphite.  Went from PX 5.5 to this shaft.

I moved from the 712s to the 714s only because the 65 g shaft felt way too light. Settled on the graphite 85 g KK, but the 95 g metals also felt good. Otherwise I would have kept the 712s. I'm hitting the sweet spot better, but that is either the weight or lessons. I can't really attribute as much improvement to the heads themselves. I did just order 6-9 since I don't plan on using resell to justify another set in a year or 2.

I went with the 714 AP1 irons this year and I love them.  Working int he golf industry has allowed me to hit every club that comes out, and I knew what I was getting after I first swung these clubs.  Best part is knowing the local Titleist reps and getting to hit every shaft option they had in the bag.  This allowed me to dial in what I wanted and ultimately select what was determined to be best fit.  I went with the XP95 shaft in a regular flex, and I am all smiles these days.  Great feel, solid movement, and work-ability are off the charts.  You can't go wrong with these clubs in my honest opinion.

Hey Christopher.  I think the more you play with those shafts, the more you will appreciate them.
