I have Titleist 712 CB Irons with Aldila VS Proto-T 75R graphite shafts exclusively for Titleist. These irons are very very light weight. What can I do to give them some weight? I've added lead tape to the club head (doesn't look pleasing). Should I get those counterbalance grips? What can you suggest?

Hi Scott,  If you did not specify a swingweight and just ordered the 712 CB irons with VS Proto R and standard grip, std length, the swingweight would be about C8.  At this point, you have several options, you can put a lighter grip (which will move the balance point and the swingweight more towards the head) or perhaps add length to the shaft. A 40 gram grip will add about 2.5 swingweights assuming that you have a standard 50 gram grip.  A counterbalanced grip will add weight to the grip end, which will lighten your swingweight.

In the future, if you order irons with a lighter shaft, consider requesting swingweight.  We might have been able to build those at D0 if the request had been on the order.

Thanks for the insight.  I will try the lighter grips.  Currently I'm using Golf Pride "Tour Wrap Grips Mid size.  I will look for the lighter grip.  Again Thank you.

Hi Harry,  Glad to hear that.the XP95 shafts are working for you.  They build out at a D1 swingweight and have a good, solid feel to them.  Play well!
