Biggest difference between the 915h and 915hd models

  1. I'm in the market for a new hybrid this spring.  The question isn't whether it will be Titleist or not but what is the main difference between the h and hd models. I have heard the main difference is the hd spins a little less and is for more of a "digger" and the h is for a picker. I have a steep angle of attack with my irons, but generally am pretty shallow with my fairway woods and pick the ball well. Any advice or more insight into which might be the best fit?

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks for the post.

You are correct, the Hd model is designed to spin less and is more ideal for an individual with a steeper angle of attack. I tend to lean towards fitting an individual into a hybrid that will help them with a swing they typically make with their irons. It is always best to see a local fitter and try both out, but hopefully this gives you some guidance.

    Thanks,

    Bubba

When I went to a Titleist fitter, he encouraged me to hit the 915hd first. The 915h was perfect for me. I just could not hit the 915hd on line and everything was right and low. Titleist has club for everyone and I love the nice high soft draw of that new 915h2. It is a wonderful club. That Aldila Black Rogue shaft helps, too.
  4. Does the Rogue have a mid to high kick point? I have no problems getting the ball in the air and my miss is almost always left.

Greg, the Rogue Black is listed as a Mid launch shaft. As always, what a shaft says it does on paper and what it does for each player can be different. I would recommend getting fit to make sure the performance and feel of the shaft are a match for your swing.

    Thanks

Appropriate timing for this discussion.  I went out during lunch time for a trip to the local golf store and gave the 915s a test.  I'm tall, 6'5" so by nature, my angle of attack is pretty darn steep.

I tried the 915H in 18* and 915Hd in 17.5, both in the A1 position, and Diamana White 90 stiff shaft.  Both are phenomenal.  In general, I cannot believe how LONG the 915s are.  I'm tempted to trade in my 913D2 and 913Fd for 915s.  I struggled a little more with the 915H, tending to miss left and low.

From the first strike with the Hd I was sold.  The slightly heavier weight was appreciated since I could feel the club head a little better.  I was belting them well in excess of my previous hybrid (non-Titleist).  I'm really looking forward to getting this puppy out on the course.  Computer numbers are one thing, but I was hitting it farther by the trackman than I normally hit my 913Fd.

My impetus for getting the new hybrid was that I've been struggling for a while with driver and I'm willing to give up some distance for hitting more fairways.

Thanks Titleist for making great clubs and making me an even happier customer!

  7. Now I really want to get out and try one! If the hybrids are that much better, I wonder how much better the 915 drivers are over my 913 D3...hmmm...come on tax refund!!!!

Greg, I think you will be pleased with the accuracy. Some have found them to be a little longer. Best to try them on the range if possible and take you current driver to get a fair comparison.

Will, you are dead on. Billy did an outstanding job with the fit for me. I am happy and the setting @ 17.25. And the bad boy is long off the tee.
  10. Thanks, I'm headed to the KC golf expo on Friday, can't wait to check out and demo some of the new 915 line!!!

I tried both with a fitter and the HD was good but the H was much better for me. Love the hybrids this year. Actually, the whole 915 line is so good I switched to everything 915. And then of course had to get new AP2 irons and wedges after that! :)

Nice choices. I keep my 913Hs and added the 915H which I use primarly as my fairway metal off the deck and rough. Outstanding performance.
