I recently started playing the KBS C-Taper X. Man those shafts are an amazing engine. They load so nice and make ballstriking fun again for the first time in a while. Everyone has their own preference, so what do you play????

This is an interesting question, most people don't realize the effect the shaft truly has on the club. After getting fit this last time I switched from the AP2s that I had Dynamic Golds in to the 714 mbs and the KBS Tour shaft was the best match for those. I really am pleased with the switch getting a higher launch and more distance with this combo than I was with the others. Its all about feel and what works best with you!

I switched to XP95 S300s when I purchased the 714 AP2s. It is not so much the engine as it is the engineer, although having a good engine is important.

I was fit at Manchester Lane for AP 2 with Project X 5.5 and love the combo.

I'm going with the Dynamic Gold S300 on my AP2s 714, but I'm thinking about ProjectX on the next set... my first real fitting will show it...

XP95 S300s here also. As for shaft importance, I had one fitter tell me to pick a head that "looked" good to me and he'd find the right shaft to optimize the numbers.

(Another brand's) Shaft Optimizer recommended DG S300's. As I have no better fitting options in my immediate area, that's what I went with in my 712mb's. They work fine, although I may consider a switch to graphite in my next set to help with some wear and tear issues in my joints.

I used the DG S300 for many years, then switched to the DG SL300 5 years ago. Two years ago, I decided to try the DynaLite S300, to save weight (82 grams vs 120 or 106 grams) and achieve higher ball flight. It's worked VERY well in that my distances increased about 5 yards and I can still flight the ball down, if needed, in the wind.

5.5 Rifle shafts in my 695 CBs. I have yet to find a shaft with as much energy transfer at impact.

My last set of TM's were equipped with KBS tours and i fell in love. When i went and got fitted for my AP2 i went in with an open mind, and just wanted whatever would suit my game best. Ended up getting the KBS tour V and love them!

I have found TT DG Tour Issue S300's. Yea, pretty tough to find and some folks in authority will say they don't make them but, they do... Hey Chuck. I have been thinking about trying the C-Taper shaft. They say that they are for quicker club head speeds. What do you think? I have slower club head speed. I think I will have to try one at the next Titleist Demo Day this spring in Bloomington. It sounds like you really love them. I have heard that their stiff is quite a bit stiffer then DG S300. What do you think?
It really depends on the person. I really enjoy the C-Taper for sure because they feel the best to me. I tested DG X100, DG Tour Issue X100, Project X 6.5 and 7.0. To me the KBS shaft gave me the best ball flight, spin and control. Everyone has a different load to there swing and different shafts feel different to others.
KBS does run a little bit stiffer. However if you find a set you like, you can soft step a stiff set or get a regular flex and hard step them. There are so many ways to get the right shaft flex.
I strongly recommend that every person goes and gets fit for there shafts. It is incredible to me how much of a difference it makes.

Hey Chuck,
I have, and likely will for a long time, play the DG X100's. But a little unusual is the fact that I specifically get the standard one's, not the Tour Issue. For some reason I like absolutely no markings on my iron shafts.
Enjoying everyone's responses.

I haven't gamed these yet, but I've tested them on a launch monitor several times, including a titleist fitting... really like the project x pxi shafts. You get that lower spin of the project x line, but in a lighter shaft. Something about it just works well for me. The only downside is the upcharge usually associated with it. Right now I game the regular project x shafts.

I have just switched to tour issue x100's in my cb's and that setup for me has been deadly, great feel and workability, I find the x100 gives a solid feel that is very stable and reliable through the whole swing.

I was fitted 2 years ago by the head pro at Twin Orchard Country Club outside of Chicago in Long Grove, IL. He set me up with Project X 6.5 for my irons, which lowered my spin rate and trajectory (for a player that naturally hit a high ball with lots of spin). I love the "muted" feel and swing weight, as I like the feeling of having some weight in my hands. For my woods, he gave me Diamana Ahina series shafts, couldn't be happier.

I have been playing the Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 (Soft Stepped once) for many years now and love them. I guess I am a traditional guy that likes heavy shafts!

Gaming the 714 AP2 ... 3 & 4 iron have the XP95 shafts ... 5 - PW have Project X PXi 5.5. Love the shafts in all of them! The XP have a great high launch which is beautiful in the long irons. The mid irons with the Project X have a great feel and trajectory that is unsurpassed in my mind. I love how the entire set feels!
I am so ready for the season to start! I am tired of swinging in the basement as I have only played 3 times with the 714's. The winter is killing me ... especially when I have the itch to get out!
Way to go Titleist! Once again you have proved yourself as the premier manufacturer in the golfing industry!

My "current" clubs are a set of 710 AP2s with Project X (5.5) shafts. I recently went through a fitting at Oceanside. After careful consideration and a lot of golf balls, we settled on 714 AP1s with Kuro Kage 85s. Quite a change but a combination that showed dramatic improvement in my ball speed and, being realistic, I can use the additional the additional forgiveness that the AP1s offer. Thanks. J.A.C.
