  1. First off, I gotta say I LOVE my AP1s and Vokeys. Just got fitted this year from 915 D3 driver to 58* wedge and have played about 6 rounds so far.  Im one of those guys that cleans my clubs after every round and I have noticed here lately the soles, toe, and cavity area on the irons and wedges are really nicking up from clanking around in the bag. Is anyone else experiencing this? I can understand over a few years but only a few rounds? I had my Vokeys custom etched with personalized lettering and hate to see them nick up so bad already.

No.  Do you ride in a cart?  The reason I asked is that irons will clang around in a bang on the back of a riding cart and that clanging will cause damage to clubs.  I am a walker and use a push cart and my clubs look good.  I have AP2s and bought them when they were first issued and play a minimum of three rounds a week.  My wedges are over a year old as well and they are tour chrome and they look fine.  Just one opinion.....

Try and find some of those neoprene club head covers for irons, so you can keep the bag chatter to a minimum.  I know several people who use them and they do wonders for keeping the irons looking fresh as new.  I have had my AP1's for almost a full year and I have very little chat marks on them from them being clunked around in the bag.  I always try and weave my towel around some of the irons so they are not loosely swinging and hitting other irons in my bag.  Hope you find something that works for you.

  4. Yes I ride in a cart. I guess I never expected them to ding so bad already. I have seen covers for them and planned on this but just seeing if im the only one experiencing this. I guess ill have to buck up and order a set

These clubs are sweet. I was out driving my partner with my 915Fd 3 wood to his driver.

Hi Brian,  The AP1 irons are made out of a softer steel and because they are not chromed, you may find little dings from the clubs clattering on a cart..The other side of the coin is that because the metal is softer, it feels really good and responsive at impact.

The 915s are awesome.  I play in a mens senior league and with my hybrids, I out drive most of the guys with my hybrids.  I have a few nicks, but that is from where one of the guys at our course got cute and dumped my clubs from the cart one day on the concrete.  Do not play with him any more.  I was walking and he gave me a lift from the 18th green to the club house and was driving his cart too fast and tipped my pull cart.  Could not put on this thread the words that came out of my mouth.  My 714s were about a month old at the time.  If you course is bumpy or hilly that will add to the wear on the clubs as well.

Brian, I too love my AP1s! As Cathi said, the metal is a little softer, not chromed but feel so good!. When I got my clubs my wife bought me a set of the better iron covers (not neoprene) from a big box store. I didn't think I would use them but now I would highly recommend them. It takes a few seconds more per shot to cycle off and on but very worth it to me! Other than a little sole wear my irons look almost new after 18 months. Just a thought.. Cheers DT
