  1. I realize some pros are enticed by the idea of a more consistent mini driver so why has Titleist not entered a club into the space as of yet?  Thoughts??

Titleist is coming out with the 915D4 soon which has a 450cc head, right between he D2 and the D3.  Are you talking about a smaller head?  Guess that I am not familiar with the mini driver.  The D2 comes in a 12* loft.   Are the pros trying to achieve the old two wood set up?  Someone enlighten me.  Maybe more launch angle and less spin? Curious minds want to know.

    Chuck,

You're right, it's like the old 2 wood.

TM came out with a mini driver last year.  It was a 260cc steel head that you could get in higher lofts (12 & 14).  I'm not to sure how well it was received by the pro's, since they haven't offered a new version this year.

Cally has introduced one recently and they were pushing it at HH this week (kind of funny since Cally had one a while ago - "the deuce").

I seen the ads for the TM mini drivers but am not a fan of the TMs.  I carry a 915d2 10.25 .5* open and a 913f 14.25 neutral and both a plenty long for me.......cannot imagine having a two wood in my bag......the 915d2 can be purchased with a 12* loft.....but do not think Titleist calls it a mini driver.......sometimes I think there are just getting to be too many choices......there is only room for 14 clubs.......again, what do you choose to carry in your bag......

The new TM Mini is part of the AeroBurner line this year since they have dropped the SLDR name. It would be cool if a "2 wood" would find its way to the custom only category but like others have said there really isn't a huge demand for it.

Yeah, TM comes out with something new that is really not so new every six months.  Why create a category for a club that is already there, just buy a D2 12* if you are looking for a good two wood.  The 915s are awesome clubs.  So let's talk about Titleist products.  I gave all my TMs to the first tee program.

    Chris,

I think they haven't gone there because of demand, more accurately - lack of demand.  I know TM introduced theirs last year and Cally is pushing one this week at HH, but how often do they really get used by pros?  Most of what I've read and heard talked to using them on short-narrow courses, which certainly seems to describe HH, but when you look at the round Jordan shot there today, does Titleist really need to introduce one - I would say no.  I think they currently offer enough options with their FWs, Hybrids and 712U.

The 5-time LH major winner has carried prototypes on and off for almost 2 years. If he wins a US Open with one, the demand may go up. One could avoid hitting up 3 degrees with a 9.5 degree driver for the same effective loft. In my case, I'm better off with the bigger face for more forgiveness anyway. I'm an equal opportunity miss-hitter.

The 915F is available in 13.5 degrees. It is in the fairway wood family, but I can't see why anyone would want anything with less loft than that. I've hit it, and it's a monster.
