Excellent club.  Go see a certified Titleist fitter.   Custom fitted clubs are the only way to purchase clubs, if you want to maximize their performance and get the most enjoyment out of them.  Cheers, Chuck............

I agree with Chuck 100%, especially with shaft fitting.

    Hi Allen,

I recently purchased the 714 AP2 Irons.  It was my first set of Titleist Irons and my first set of forged clubs too.  I have been playing golf nearly all of my life and played with great irons from another leading US brand, but they were always investment cast.

I am glad that I purchased the new AP2 Irons...after an exhaustive fitting, I have my irons fitted with KBS Tour Shafts (regular flex, steel shafts) and my clubs came 2-degrees flatter (lie angle) and I added the Golf Pride MCC grips.

I am delighted with the performance of the clubs...fantastic feeling of the clubs on impact.  Great swing weight (good balance but not too heavy to add extra strain on my shoulders).  Excellent aesthetics...as I have stated elsewhere, IMHO, probably the most beautiful clubs I have ever seen in the past 30+ years of golfing.  I like the appearance at address and the shape of the club inspires confidence in that I can shape a ball flight/trajectory as I need to (and assuming I can pull it off!).

I am also finding that I am getting good distance and a tighter "dispersion" on my balls that are not ideally struck [read: mishits :-)]   Also, I am finding that the feedback on the clubs is excellent ...it has been helping me in my practice to produce a better, more consistent swing pattern (ie: as I try to recreate the sensation of an optimally struck ball).  In turn, I have been shooting some of my best scores ever.

I know that you can weigh the considerations of whether to purchase the 714 AP2's or try and wait until the next version of the AP2's come out.  However, IMHO, unless the consideration is budgetary in nature, then I would not hesitate to get fit for the 714 AP2 Irons.
