AP1 710 Regular Flex vs AP1 710 Stiff Flex Irons

    I am currently playing AP1 710 5-W irons with a regular flex, my swing speed hitting a 7 iron is between 75-85 according to the launch monitor at Golf Galaxy.  I have noticed the ball flight can be quite high on the lower irons, I usually use a low compression ball, 35-50.  I want to get the ball down a little.  I can hit the 5 iron 210 yards, with what looks like to be a nice flight. To get a nice shot I need to slow down the tempo, if I speed up at all I tend to hit off line, mostly to the left, sometimes it is just alignment, or bad swing path.

    Being mine are a regular flex, how much does the head twist during the swing?  I would love to get AP1 712's or 714's but it is not really in the budget, I found a set of 710 AP1's with the NS Pro 105T stiff shafts, I as mentioned have the 105T Regular Flex in my irons.

    So overall if I were to get the 105T Stiff will I see a straighter lower ball flight?  Will distance be more or less?

    Right now mine are 1/2 inch longer and 2 degrees upright, I am 6'3" tall.  I would get the new ones altered to my specs.

    I would lose the 1/2 inch - that will cure some of the ills of launching it high and get it straighter

    I can always choke down some if it helps, but overall does the club head twist more using reg flex vs stiff?  I know the reg flex will be more whippy which can cause a higher ball flight.

    I would go see a certified Titleist fitter!  Only your fitter knows for sure.  :-)

    There are some at local clubs, mostly private, but Golf Galaxy is supposed to be certified, they just installed a new launch monitor system with the big screen Sunday, so I will take my clubs down to get some more numbers and will hit some new 714's t compare my clubs against.

    I have the NSPro 105T stiff shafts in a set of 710 AP1's as well as a set of 712 AP2's.  The shaft is a mid to high launch shaft so it sounds like it is doing what it is designed to do.  My experience is that this shaft itself does not promote a lower ball flight even in stiff.  I hit the ball high but that is my preference.  In my case, I wanted to maintain the same type of trajectory between the two sets and it worked.

    Would the regular shaft like I have in my 710's promote a higher launch and trajectory versus the stiff shaft?
