AP2 Hosel bore diameter

  1. Last spring I purchased a set of AP2 irons with the C-taper shafts. Recently I decided to increase the swing weight by adding tip weights. Last night I pulled the head off the 3 iron to make sure that I had the correct size components before pulling the remaining heads. When I tried to clean out the old adhesive from the hosel with my .355 wire brush, it was too small. So, I measured the id and found it to be .370. I've read here that all Titleist irons are supposed to use a .355 taper tip shaft. I'm wondering if Titleist changed to a .370 parallel bore on their irons? When I put the shaft back into the hosel, it's a pretty sloppy fit and I'm concerned that I may not be able to get the correct alignment.
  2. What is the hosel bore diameter of the original AP2 irons?

The bore diameter is .355 as is every AP, CB, or MB since that.

Hopefully you solved your issue. I would have commented had I seen the post. It's not uncommon for taper tip .355 iron heads to be reamed out to .370. I've done it many times where a certain shaft was not available in .355. It's fairly routine with good tools, experience, and as long as you double check lofts and lies after the job. However, if someone wants the old shaft(s) reinstalled, I use a .355 to .370 adapter shim to ensure a good fit. If you think your AP2s may have been reshafted, check the serial number with Team Titleist to see what the original shaft in the job order was.
  5. I ordered these new through a Titleist retailer and they were sent directly from Titleist. I'm assuming the hosels were never bored out since these were the only shafts ever installed. I found that even though the fit between the shaft and hosel is fairly loose, since the ferrules are collared, once they are forced down into the hosel, the collar tightens up the fit. So far I've only done the 3 iron and I checked the loft and lie and it's right at spec so I think I'm ok. Thanks

I've taken apart dozens of titleist iron sets and they have all been .355

have you tried putting a taper tip shaft in the head? Use some shafting beads in the epoxy should be fine.
