Two questions regarding the 915F

So I have the 915F 18* with the length being -1/4" from standard. I also have a 915D and 915H with the same -1/4" length. Both of those clubs have the red weight, while my F has the blue weight. All were ordered through a golf shop. The driver was through Cool Clubs and the F and H were from Big Oak in Rochester, NY. Is the deviation between weights normal?

And my second question is that I'm debating cranking up the loft on the F to test out flight patterns from off the deck. I know that adding loft with SureFit leaves the club closed when soled, so it is my responsibility to make sure I square the club up to use the effective loft. Because the sole position of the club changes, does this affect turf interaction? Obviously with a driver, this is not a concern, but with the F and H, I am curious about its effects.

    Thanks,

    David

David:  I think my first question would be, were you fitted for these clubs?  Regarding your second question.  Here is the chart to use in playing with the lofts on your Fs and Hs.  The Standard Lie is neutral.  By moving it to the right of the chart it will open it by a half a degree.  By moving it one number to the left it will close it a half a degree and by two numbers one full degree.   I have not noticed my face closing at the neutral setting.  I have a 915D2 (10.25), 913F (14.25), 915h (16.26), 915h (19.50), 913h (23.25).....and as long as I swing through the F and H and not try to overpower the clubs, I am fine.......the only club that is not set at neutral is my driver and it set at C-4 and I am hitting it to my satisfaction.

    Chuck,

I was fitted for all of the clubs. When I asked about how they determined the weights, I was told that Titleist determines that when they receive the spec sheet. So I was just curious as to how all three clubs were ordered -1/4", but the 915F came with a different weight.

I think you may be mistaken with the second part, because the horizontal axis is lie angle, which should have no effect on face angle. It's moving the loft higher or lower that has an effect on the face angle/effective loft, at least that's what I've garnered by looking this up.

We had another post on here previously regarding this and I cannot find it.  I was referring to loft and if you set it at neutral it remains neutral.

I currently have all the clubs at A1, so this makes sense. My question becomes what happens to the turf interaction if I dial the loft up to either A4 or D4?

Do not think I give you an answer.  I am a picker.

I think that is pretty standard.  My 910 fwys had blue weights while my driver and hybrd had red and my 913s are also configured the same.  It has to do with swing weight of the club and typically Titleist clubs are built to be in the D2 - D3 swing weight range.

If you add loft without changing the lie angle I don't believe the sole position changes, so there should be no change in turf interaction.

Okay, thanks Barry, that solves the weight conundrum. I actually like the heavier weight in the fairway, as I feel like I'm less likely to "lose" the head coming back.

This was the thread that I was using for reference regarding the sole position.

Head weight , shaft weight , grip weight and club length all affect swing weight. Any club fitter took these things into account when they made recommendations for your clubs so they match you and your fitting.

Find a swing weight scale and I'd guess that they are pretty similar.

I personally like my driver a bit higher SW than Fairwaywood and hybrids.
