Anyone out there have these and how do you like them? Looking to finally part with the old DCI 990's.

  2. I have two sons that have these and they very much enjoy the forgiveness as well as confidence they instill at address compared to my old DCI's which they both had used...

Dave, I just ordered the new 716 AP1s. Titleist has finally thinned out the top line on the irons so that they don't look as clunky. Steve

Ive had them for about 8 months now and love them. Great ball flight and solid feel. I had png G30's prior to these. Good clubs but when I tried them side by side, Titleist was the clear winner for me.

You did go for a fitting, didn't you?  Most important element in getting a new set of clubs.  Like buying a new pair of shoes, you want the perfect fit.   Do yourself a big favor and go see a certified club fitter.

It will happen soon, there is a PGA super store less than an hour from me. That is where I plan on getting fit and ordering them.

I have had AP1's for almost a year.  Best set I have ever had.  Great forgiveness and play ability.  Love the ball flight and the feel of the ball off the face of the club.

    Dave,

I have had mine for about 18 months, its great, gives you confidence, forgiveness on miss hits.  I'm considered a "senior" player so its works very well for my game and limited playing time.

Whether you choose 714s (which will become cheaper soon) or the 716s, my advice as I have learned from other TT members is to get fitted if you can.  It will give you that extra confidence that the club is built to your swing.

    Good luck....

    Fantastic irons.

The forgiveness on 'less-than-perfect' swings is unmatched.  Great feel for a game improvement club.  Can't beat the long, high ball-flight, (especially when properly fit).

Hi Dave, I received the 714 AP1's Wednesday night from my wife and kids as a birthday present for turning the big 5-0. Played them last night for the first time and absolutely love them! I have been playing my DCI blacks since '95 and I cannot believe the difference. Golf was always fun and these API's take my game to an new level. The shots are solid, distance further and the trajectory to the greens much higher. I have a new confidence with my long irons that was iffy with the DCI's in recent years. Could be age, mental focus or both...LOL Seriously these clubs are a night and day difference. Whether you get the 714 or 716 AP1's you can't go wrong! In college I was a scratch golfer with Titleist tour blades. Then after getting married and having kids I went to the DCI's and now the AP1's have me reminiscing of the glory days again. I'm a 14 handicap and with these clubs I feel ill be in the single digits by the spring. Good luck!

Yes, AP1 714 are the best irons I've ever owned. Very forgiving with great ball flight. I recently ordered a custom set of the AP1 716 irons and am looking forward to receiving them on October 23. Best wishes!

  14. Dave, I bought my AP-1's in the spring and I just LOVE THEM!!!! They are long and straight. If you switch you won't be sorry. The only thing I changed was the loft on the 7 & 8 irons (had them bent stronger). They are fantastic !!! steve b

Hi Dave, I have had the ap1's for a year now and they are spectacular, probably gained 10 yards on my old ironsand they feel and look spectacular.Good distance and control on all shots and the head does give some confidence in address to help a 13 handicapper like myself.Shot my lowest round with these irons  and hopefully more to come, would strongly recommend getting them based on performance, looks and feel. Play well- Joe p

Yes, these are great clubs, but make sure that you have the right shaft.  Too heavy or stiff and they feel like a clunker.  Too light and whippy and they are harder to control.  With the right shaft they are great.  With the wrong one for you, they will feel terrible.

I started our with the Dynalite gold XP at 115 grams and it felt like a brick.  Same head with the graphite R 65 gram shaft, and I've never hit better shots.  Same head, different shafts.  Complete difference.

Maybe trackman shot statistics don't vary all that much with different shafts, but they sure feel different.  And that gives you confidence.  And as we have heard, 90% of this game is half mental.
