  1. I got my first hybrid a few weeks ago, I have read that you are supposed to hit it like and iron and play it back farther in your stance. I have been hitting it more like a wood. Is there a right and wrong?

I tend to hit my hybrids more like woods also and they're working absolutely great for me! I think it is just whatever works for you. As we all know golf is definitely not a game where one method suits all.

I don't think there necessarily is a right or wrong with it. I like you have a 816 and I sweep it more like a wood. I don't think there is anything wrong with this. Best of luck.

Whatever works for you and your swing would be the best answer! I tend to play mine 1 -2 balls forward of center depending how I want to hit the ball.

Similar to a 3 or 4 iron it depends on the shot you want to make, ball back of your stance to delight the club and hit a more penetrating ball flight, ball forward in your stance to add loft and get more height from your shot.

I agree with what everyone else is stating. I think it depends on what is most comfortable for you. I have an 816 H2 hybrid and play it more like a fairway wood with a sweeping motion rather than an iron. It just works best for me.

  7. One thing I find with my hybrids is I just try and swing smooth. When I am using them I am either trying to hit a tight fairway from the tee box on a short par 4 or I'm hitting into a green so I am more concerned about accuracy then distance.

I have a 816 H1 19 (set to 20) and it replaced my 3i. I hit it like a 3i. I was instructed to play them like the irons they're replacing.

Like other people have said, there is no right and wrong. You have to figure it out for yourself. Personally I like to sweep mine as well (I have the 810h 21°) and if I need to pound it, I can get 235 out if it, but a normal swing nets me 220 bang on. I can change the trajectory by moving it up or back in my stance.
Go to the range and see what works for you. Its the only way.

Lean towards a shade back. Only two clubs in the bag should have an ascending blow... putter and driver. The rest you hit down on. Lean towards like an iron.
