Which club head loft, shaft, and flex should I go with, based on the following info?

Currently, here's how my game/swing measures up:

-I own the 910D2 and I'm averaging about 230 yards.  My swing speed ranges from the low 80s - mid 90s.  I've hit 260 on occasion, but more often than not, I'm between 225 - 240 ish yds.

-The shaft is the Diamana Ilima one (red) in a regular flex; mid-high launch.  Because the trajectory of my shot is usually really high, I've had to "deloft" my club (10.5* loft now at the D1 setting; 9.75*)

-Here's my averages of all clubs according to my Golfshot app over the course of a season:

5-wood (regular flex) = 190 yds (have hit 200-220 on occasion; my best was 250)

3 hybrid (regular flex) = 180 yds (have hit 190 with this on occasion)

    4 hybrid (regular flex) = 170 yds

    5 iron = 155 yds

    6 iron = 144 yds

    7 iron = 130 yds

    8 iron = 125 yds

    9 iron = 110 yds

    p/wedge = 100 yds

    gap wedge = 90 yds

    sand wedge =75 yds

    (irons are all steel shafts)

Now I know ideally I should get "fitted" but at the same time, I was hoping to find a general consensus based on the responses from the users of this forum.  Thanks!

    Hi Frank

I would recommend that you have a certified Titleist fitter analyze the right setup for.

Although you have a general idea of your distances, you are not taking into account your spin rates and launch which is a key factor in determining your optimal distance.

The distances that you are currently getting throughout your set could be simply because you don't have the right shaft/head combinations that fit your style of swinging. You may have the optimal setup or you could see a significant improvement by going the fitting route.

    Cheers

Let's say you don't go to a full range fitter using a trackman outside.  If you have a large retailer near you, most places with a cart will at least have the D2 10.5 head and the Diamana Blue 62.  Try that at 10.5.  I was getting too much spin with the Bassara.  I doubt you would need the White 74, which is the other readily availabe stock shaft.  You'd get some idea hitting into the screen to see how that compares to the 910 with the Ilama.  The Blue 62 cut my spin from 2900 to 2200 and dropped the launch angle 18 degrees from the 24 I was getting with a G15 12 degree. That was indoors with their trackman.

But since I didn't want to pay 399.95 plus tax, I got a used 910 D2 with the reg Ilana.  Otherwise I was on board with the Blue.  Only gotten the 910 out on course once, but it definitely improved my game.  I've got it a 11.25 but will try 10.5/9.75 to see what is working best (trusting my eyes as much as a trackman...). My speed is 86 and my iron distances are about identical.  I was consistently in the fairway and over 200, but at 37 degrees, that was good enough for me.  A couple were in the 230+ range.  If I gave up another 5-8 yards by not spening another $200, I can still score better by improving my putting.  I was getting too many 150-180 yard balloons with the 12 degree.  Solved that problem.

Like you said, you should be properly fitted by your Titleist rep.

You say that you have a high launch. That may be correct, however, with your swing speed, your launch angle should be a touch higher than someone who has a higher swing speed. Your AOD/spin, etc., maybe too high, maybe not. Do your drives launch high, then, when it comes down, does it stop, spin back, etc.? How much roll would you say you get? Do you have a general miss (left, right)? Do you like lighter shafts, heavier ones? Have you ever been on a launch moniter? If so, do you have any numbers (spin, launch angle, ball speed, deviation, etc.)? I'm sure I could make a suggestion, however, it may or may not be, the right setup for YOU. If you were properly fit, your Titleist rep could have you try out various shafts and heads, get your Sure-Fit setting dialed in to a "t"...that way, if you do buy a 913, you'll KNOW that driver was fit specifically just for you/your swing, and you wouldn't have to worry about your launch angle being too high, and so on. You'll have more confidence every time you step up to the tee box, which means better shots.

    Frank,

You should know that many really good Titleist fitters usually DO NOT CHARGE FOR FITTING and there is NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR CUSTOM CLUBS.  So there is really no downside to getting fitted.  Many of these same fitters will have a fitting fee, so if you do not buy there may be a fee, but if you are serious about buying the fitting fee is of no concern.

Also, trying to get opinions on your clubs is risky at best and most assuredly will not be of any value , especially if the advice comes from non-experienced non-fitters.

Here is my comment based on 25 years of fitting  --
1-)a 3 hybrid that only carries ( i assume these are carry distances and not counting roll) does not have enough launch to get the
ball to stop on the green.
       2)  same goes for a 5 iron that only carries 155 and probably the same for your 6 iron.
Both of those statements are most likely true UNLESS  you slice the ball considerably. The the slice spin might make the ball go
high enough and spin enough to stop on the green.
I assuming you slice it because you said you hit your driver too high with a 10.5 loft.  Which is the case about 95% of the time in my fittings. However a high launching driver with low spin ( draw or hook spin) will give you the most distance.  Slices spin up in the air too much, don't carry and certainly do not roll out much.
So, bottom line -- find a good fitter that fits outdoors using a launch monitor and get the real information on your shots rather than trying to figure it out here.  My comments were based on 25 years of fitting, but that is not nearly as valuable as being able to observe your ball flight.
