  1. I will be purchasing a custom MB/CB combo set but first need to select my steel shaft. I use a 73X Whiteboard so my swing speed is sufficient (110-ish) but I am unsure what iron shafts will lower my ball flight significantly because right now I am ballooning my 695's with stock S300's. I was thinking S400 or Project X 6.0, but what's the experts advice? Thank You-

  2. Those are some good shafts, however, you should be properly fit. You may need them hard stepped. Perhaps a degree stronger.

The 695's are some great sticks. Over time, forged irons can sometimes "change" a little bit, due to the soft, forged metal. So, your lofts could be off, and/or your lie angles.

  3. I will most definitely be fit but would like to pick a brand and series and go from there and then consider hard stepping, etc. Looks like I'll stay away from Project X as I've read they are known to raise your ball flight so I will consider an S400 or X100 Dynamic Gold Tour Issue.

I play PX and my ball flight is very low. Dont believe the hype. KBS sent my ball ballooning and I heard otherwise.

  5. I just finished a fitting at a regional center and the PX shaft was the shaft with the lowest flight and slowest spin (under 6000).  I was fitted for the PX 5.5 in the AP2's

I liked the MB's better and feltmore confident but the AP2 #s were better according to the fitter

    Hi Tim,

Before you place an order for your irons, contact your fitter and tell him/her exactly what you have said - that you like the MB's better, even though you hit the AP2's better.  Talk through all the reasoning with the fitter so that you are confident that you are getting not only what you want, but what will work for you.

  7. I will Cathi, thank you.

I play to an 11 HDCP but you would thibnk I was a 30 the way I hit at the fitting. my fitter told me to "stay away from the MB's", but I truly didnt notice a huge difference in distance when I hit the AP2 and the MB's.  While the AP2's felt nice and solid when I hit them, I am just not a fan of the look.

If I go to the MB, would the shaft selection work in the MB just the same as the Ap2??  all the specs on the 2 clubs are the same except for the off-set

We offer all the shafts in any head, but they may play slightly differently depending on the head.  Again, that would be a good question for Kevin.

  9. Thanks

I contacted him. I am just waiting for a reply.

That's good that you're going to be fitted for your clubs. Who knows, the PX could be the shaft for you. There are A LOT of Tour players and amateurs who use them, yet, still have a lower penetrating flight. Not everybody will experience the same effects with certain shafts as others have. Being that you're going to be fit, just go with an open mind and try out different shafts. The Tour Issue S-400's and X-100's are excellent shafts.

Let us know how everything goes at your fitting.

Like others have said, ball flight could end up being lower with PX because it won't spin the ball nearly as much as DGS300.
