  1. ami right in thinking changing from a1 setting to d1 changes decreases the loft by 0.75 degrees does this have any effect on the clubface being open or closed .I believe its 0.5 degrees open in the a1 setting is this the same in d1

Yes, going from A1 to D1 will decrease the loft by .75 degrees.  It won't change the of the lie club though, and will remain .5 open.

    D1 is 1.5* open.

    I use the +1.5 lie angle settings on my 910F 19* and 910H 27*.   D2 is 1.5* open, A2 is .5* open, D3 is .5* closed and A3 is 1.5* closed.

    Sean,

When moving to D1, you will have effectively changed the club face from .5* open to 1.5* open.

So what setting should you use to bring the loft down without opening the face up so drastically?

    Nathan,

As you decrease or increase the loft, there will be an effective face angle change.  These are not independent of each other.  Once in a stronger loft, aesthetically, the club face will look open at the address position.  Squaring your club face to your target will allow the loft to change.  If you are looking to move the ball flight (for a RH player) from right to left, consider adjusting the club into a more upright position.

Thanks Cameron, so would you suggest going with the C2 setting in that case?

    Nathan,

Yes, that setting or even D-2 if you want to see more of a right to left ball flight.

  9. Hello Team Titleist

I am interested in purchasing new 714  AP1 irons with Nippon 850 or 950 regular fles shafts, standard lengeth. What swingweight would they typically be built to?

    Tim,

Standard swing weight is D2.  The 714 AP1 will swing weight 3 points lighter with the 950 GH and 2.5 points lighter with the 850 GH.

I think a chart should be made with all the lofts and lie angles and with face open or closed in degrees.... i know its pretty much self explanatory but i think it would help people better understand
