Hi Team,
I was fitted today for new irons. Historically, I have played TM and actually went to the pro shop in search of probably being fitted to the miz JPX 825 Pros or the RBZ Tour. I am a 15 handicap, and prefer an iron with a thin top line. While I liked the feel of the miz iron, I decided to try the Titleist AP2 (AP1 does not come in graphite shaft?). I hit that iron probably as well as the JPX825 Pro but wanted to see if I could hit the Titleist 712 CB Forged as I really liked the look. I hit about 9 shots with it and it felt really good. The Pro said that it looked like I got a higher launch with the CB. I voiced my concern about my 15 handicap playing an iron that is more typical of a lower handicap player. He said after watching me swing for the last hour, he felt confident that I was consistent enough to hit the CB. Even though I only hit off the mat in the shop and never hit any from the driving range, I went ahead and custom ordered the 5-PW, SR Flex Graphite, Womens length, 1 degree flat. I feel really good about the fitting but am wondering if i may have compromised on forgiveness.
Should I doubt the fitting and the Pros recommendation when only hitting the 6 iron approximately a dozen times? I loved how this iron looks, really hope I can hit them as well on the course.
