Awesome Morning with Bob Vokey

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the morning with Bob Vokey at the Titleist Oceanside facility dialing in my wedges through the Bob Vokey Hand Ground Experience.  I wanted to send a special thanks to Mr, Vokey, Cliff and all of the Titleist staff I met at the Oceanside facility.  This was an awesome experience and one that I will cherish for a long time.  All of the folks at Titleist were awesome to deal with and the facility was top notch.  Another awesome experience from Titleist!  I have said it before, but I really appreciate the fact that Titleist enables regular guys like ourselves to have access to their top notch staff.  I have never dealt with another company from a consumer perspective that really takes interest in, and time to engage, their customers the way Titleist does.

Meeting Bob Vokey was an awesome experience and working with him and Cliff throughout the morning to dial in my wedges was very special.  The funny thing, after the fitting, I ended up with a M 60 and TVD-M 56 (bent to 55) which was my same setup going into the fitting.  I guess if it ain't broke, you don't fix it!  I also got a TVD-K 60 to have an option with a little different bounce because, according to Bob... bounce is your friend!  We made a couple of modifications to the wedges (thin topline and pro groove) all in a raw finish with the typical stamping I include on my wedges from Wedgeworks, and I can't wait to get them in the bag!

Mike, what a great experience, thank you for sharing your day at Oceanside and even better with Mr. Vokey himself.  You are very fortunate to have gotten a first hand fitting from the best into the Best club on tour.

Sounds like an Awesome experience Mike.  You've had a busy few weeks.  First Wolf dancer and now Oceanside with the best in the business, Mr Vokey.

Yeah, a little jealous.

Sounds like a great experience!  There go the excuses for not hitting 'em close!

I am officially drooling, Mike.  Between your Vokey Experience and Chris92009's full day Titleist fitting, I am completely jealous.  Would that I could ever afford to do something like this.

Mike, sounds like you had a blast! Wouldn't you agree Bob made you feel like a personal best friend during your time with him...he is so down to earth and a Great Guy!  I also, thought Cliff and Robert did an incredible job filtering everything that Bob was suggesting and ensuring that this was a complete fitting session and not just experimenting with one or two options...

Chris

Mike - Thanks for sharing your experience with Mr. Vokey. What could be better than 3 hours with the Voke!

WOW.  Fitted by Vokey would be awesome, like being custom fit by Scotty Cameron with a custom putter.  Glad some of the members had the experience.  Good luck with the new sticks.

I really enjoyed the time with Bob, he made me feel comfortable and, as Chris indicated, like I had known him for years.  Cliff was the same way, making me feel totally at ease working with them.  Since my wedges are by far my favorite clubs in the bag, it was very special to have this opportunity.  The entire team at the Oceanside facility worked together with me to ensure I had the proper fit and tried out all sorts of different permutations in different conditions.  As I'm sure Chris will concur, if anybody ever has the opportunity to do this type of a fitting, they should definitely take advantage of it.  Likewise, if you have a chance to meet Mr. Vokey or spend any time with him, you will understand immediately what a great guy he is.  Thanks to Titleist for an awesome experience!

Looks like an awesome time, love hearing how friendly the staff member are..... Dec 16 can't get here fast enough!

That must have been a blast!  Getting to meet Bob in person AND new wedges... Wow, what a great day!

Mike did a fantastic job...I was lucky enough to observe the fitting...what a cool process and certainly worth every penny

nice post... I'm thinking about doing it also..

I wanted to follow up now that I have received the wedges from the Bob Vokey Hand Ground Experience and share some pictures.  The box was very discrete, and it was hard to guess what was inside when it arrived!

Needless to say, I could not wait to open up the box.  Simply put, these wedges are awesome!  I ended up with 60M and a 56M (bent to 55) both in a raw finish with a thin topline and a pro-groove.  I also received a 60K in a raw finish to have a little more bounce on my 60 for certain conditions and to experiment with a little.  The raw finish looks awesome and you can't really appreciate it from the pictures (I'm sure this is also due to my lack of skill with photography and the fact I am shooting these pics with my phone).

I can't wait to get these bad bys in my bag and out on the course.  The recent ice buildup is melting here in Dallas and I hope the wedges can make their debut this weekend.  Thanks to Titleist, Mr. Vokey and Cliff out at the Oceanside facility for making the Bob Vokey Hand Ground Experience so awesome!  I truly appreciate the opportunity to meet the great folks at Titleist and have experiences like this.

P.S. - Todd - I believe you indicated you were going out next week for the Vokey fitting... have a blast and enjoy it!  It is truly something you will remember.  Hopefully this gave you a little more taste of what's to come!

Wow!  That sounds like an incredible once in a lifetime experience.  I wish I would have been able to do the same thing!  Question about your wedges, I see one says prototype on the logo.  What does that mean?  What wedge model did you get?
