I will spoil it by saying it was awesome.  If you have any hesitation, just pull the trigger and do it.

Setting up the fitting was a breeze, Cathi and Andy did a great job in getting me an appointment.  Being 50 miles away, min was able to be flexible.

Steve Ziff was my fitter and he and I clicked really well in terms of my objectives.  He is laid back and asks a number of questions to help him get familiar with your game.  Since this was an iron-only fitting, we talked about my current set, what I wanted, appearance, my definition of feel, and my benchmark for distance.  All of this during my warm up.

Steve did something no other fitter had ever done.....he used his questions to help pace the session so I would not get tired out.  So many fitters like to get you out the door quickly and you end up just pounding balls.

After talking about appearance, we settled on working with the AP2 irons.  A couple of times into it, he would quietly sneak in the CBs to see if I would notice what I was hitting.  The flow was great, I'd hit 2-3 balls, review the data, and give some feedback.  Based on that he would change the shaft, adjust the loft and lie to optimize the ball flight.

He then asked me about old injuries and other life changes that might impact my game.....there are twin boys on the way.  We talked about going from the S+ to the S in the C-Taper to reduce some weight.  By the time it was settled, I ended up getting the AP2, 1 upright, 1 strong.

We spent some time trying to fine tune the long irons/ hybrid.  We tried an AP1, a 712u, and hybrids.  At the end of the day, we adjusted my 910h because he felt a new hybrid would not improve my numbers too much.

We were a little ahead so we checked my Trackman numbers on the driver.  I took two swings mad had smash factor average of 1.49.  Steve was like, "what do you want to know about your driver other than don't change it?"  Remember, the comment about not pounding balls so fast?  That was the key for me, the flow kept me in the process.

The honesty about not fitting me to something not needed was great.  Cathi, Steve, and Titleist know how to do it right.  A huge shout out to Mike D. As well! A huge thanks to every at Titleist.

Hi Scott,  Glad to hear your your fitting with Steve went well.  I have passed your note to the test facility to let Steve know how much you enjoyed the fitting.  I'm sure it will make his day brighter.

It was great to meet you at our TT event in SD and good luck with your new baby boys on the way!

    +1

I also had a Oceanside fitting w/ Steve Ziff last August and the experience was great.

  4. Cliff was my fitter at Oceanside and did an incredible job! Sounds like they have a good group of fitters!!

I would expect nothing less from a first class facility that Titleist has put together...!

Steve Ziff was my fitter in December when I won the Oceanside Experience Giveaway.  We spent 5 hours together as I got fitted for a complete set of new clubs.   I agree, the pace was perfect and the time flew by.  I did not want the session to end. I left Oceanside with complete confidence that Titleist would be building a set of clubs for me that are exactly what I need to be playing.  Steve Ziff and the other fitters at Oceanside are awesome and the epitome of professionalism.
