Tour AD DI-6x

Dan C

Hi,

Does Titleist tip the Tour AD DI-6x shaft when installing it in a 910D3? If tipped 1/2" how dramatically would that change the shaft characteristics?

Thanks,
Dan

We can tip the driver shaft up to 1 1/2".  Standard tipping on the DI 6x is 1/2".

Just wondering if titleist tips the tour ad di 6s a standard half inch as well? I know these shafts do play a tad softer to flex thats why i am curious if titleist does this already so i wont have too. Also this should lower the spin a touch right?

Standard tipping on all DI shafts is 1/2"

Standard tipping on all DI shafts is 1/2"

is 1" of tipping equivelent to a shaft flex i.e. stiff to x-stiff?

what is the best way to tell if a di shaft has been tippped after i have it pulled?  would it be to measure from tip to the first ring on the graphic?

In general, 1" of tipping will change it by 1/2 flex, but it can vary from shaft to shaft depending on the differences in shaft bend profiles.  When you talk about tip frequency, you are only stressing one part of the shaft and when you swing, you are bending the entire shaft.

Hi Cathy, Do you know what the measurement would be from the end of the surefit adapter tip to a the first green band on the AD DI to determine how much it has been tipped? Thank you!

    Hi Christopher,

Measuring from the tip of the adapter to the first green line on a DI 6 with standard tipping you should expect a length of approximately 24 5/8 inches.

So if I ordered a 915 D2 with a AD DI 6x shaft, that was UNTIPPED, then this would play roughly a 1/4 of a flex weaker than if I were to order it with the standard 1/2" tipping? This would still be considered an X flex though correct? It wouldn't be weak enough to classify as a stiff? Thanks

    Hi Peter,

An untipped DI 6 X driver shaft would play softer than one with standard tipping, but doing so would not reduce the playable stiffness below what would be considered extra stiff.

Does this apply to both the 6x and the 6s? I'm seeing some reports that the untipped 6x should be 23 5/8 and the 6s should be 24 5/8?

    Hi Christopher,

We tip both the DI 6 S and X one half inch, so the 24 5/8 measurement would apply to both on a standard build.

Thank you for the reply. Just to be clear then, the measurement should 24 5/8 after Titleist has tipped 0.5" or would that be before and then the measurement would be 24 1/8? Thanks again.

The 24 5/8 measurement is tipped and built.
