To give you a description of my stance, I can touch the tops of my kneecaps with my fingertips (shoulders and knees in line) and my hands and nose line up when I address the ball. I have a pretty athletic stance and flex my knees a bit more than a lot do. My arms also extend out slightly (but I'm not reaching for the ball either; the club grounds nicely). My static fit (according to the Ping website) is Yellow Dot (+1.5* which translates to a 9 iron with a 65.5* lie angle) and my dynamic fit is Blue Dot (61.5* 5 iron and 64.5* 9 iron; Titleist is 62* 5 iron and 64* 9 iron). The issue with Eye 2 irons was the spacing (.75* between clubs - a Yellow Dot 5 iron is only .25* different vs Titleist standard lie but the 9 iron was 1.5* more upright). Titleist standard lie and length for AP1 = center of lie angle tape.

Re: iron fitting

[quote user="Rick D"]

This is highly unusual because 33 1/2" WTF, 5'7" translates to Black -.25", which would be a degree flat on Titleist (Blue is the same as Titleist standard).

From your description, you are almost standing vertical at address but use a rather horizontal swing, approaching that of a baseball swing.

My WTF is 35.5" and I'm 6'1" My basic specs are 35" club - 65* lie angle (lob wedges), 36" club - 64* lie angle (9 iron), 37" club - 63* lie angle (7 iron). My driver is 44.5" 58.5* lie angle. I had Ping Eye 2 irons before and they started out at green dot (2.25* upright per Ping) and I had to choke down halfway to hit them properly; they ended up at blue dot . I have a pretty upright swing.

I was recently fit, outdoors, for a set of 712 ap1's by an established fitter. first set of irons actually custom fit outdoors.anyway very thorough, hit irons with different lengths and lies.in the end it was reccomended i go +1/2 length, and 2 degrees up.i did hit these specs better, but just never thought i would need a longer more upright iron being my height at 5-71/2.does this sound too far fetched?thanks

What is your wrist to floor height? My dad is 6'2" and I am 6'1". He uses a flatter lie than I do because his arms are 2" longer than mine. I'm a degree more upright than he is.

I have a 35" sleeve length on my shirts.

Also, do you swing standing straight with little knee flex? I have a little bit more knee flex than most do.
