    Hi Titleist,

I am looking for a shaft (maybe stock shaft, doesn't matter) for the 913 Fairway that produces low/mid spin and low to mid launch.

I had a 83 grams Project X 6.5 and I like the launch and height for the ballflight, but not the shaft, so can you recommend something similar?

You should be able to look at the Titleist Custom Shaft chart, and see some models that are in the range of the project X shaft you currently play, and go from there.

One of the newer offerings that may fit what you are looking for is the Diamana S+ Blue shaft, in the appropriate weight you require.

    Chris,

One good stock options to try would be the Mitsubishi Diamana D+ White 82.  It may launch/spin the ball lower then the Project X, but is classified as a low launch, low spinning shaft.  You could also try the Aldila RIP a 80, but this will tend to produce a lower launch and spin then the Project X.  The RIP a 80 will launch/spin more similar to the Diamana D+.

    @Cameron

I liked the launch for my Project X X-8B4, but sometimes I felt it was a bit too low launching from the deck, not form tee though.

But if I had the feeling of launching that shaft a bit too low, wouldn't it be risky to get the Diamana D+ White 82, since the shaft diagram tells me that the Diamana D+ will launch even lower?

    Chris,

You are correct.  I mistakenly interpreted your initial post as you wanting something low launching/low spinning.  If you want something that is more mid launching, similar to the Project X, consider the Diamana S+ that Robert mentions.  You could also consider the non-stock option Diamana Blue Board 83.

    Cameron,

Thank you for your answer. I think I will go to the local pro and try hitting both shafts again. I can see that the weight of Diamana S+ Blue is only 74 grams and I want 80+ grams.

Maybe I should try Project X again just the 6.0 (X-8C4) 82 grams and see if that will help me. I read that sometimes you can easily go down in stiffness with Project X, and I had 6.5. That sometimes felt a bit too stiff, but I liked the launch, as mentioned before, so maybe 6.0 is the way to go.

    Am I totally wrong?

    Chris,

Not wrong at all.  Try both options because they will both have two different feels.

    Cameron,

    One last question here.

The Diamana S+ Blue 82, is that a stock shaft for the 913F? Because I can't see it here: http://www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/fairways/913F.aspx

But that shaft is just what I need if I look at the shaft diagram chart. Low Mid spin and just above Low Mid launch. I have the non-stock Diamana Blue 73 in my driver and I love that shaft, so I think the S+ Blue 82 would fit me perfectly.

    Cameron,

I have in my 913D3 driver a non-stock Diamana Blue 73 x-flex shaft and my avg. clubhead speed is 110-115 mph.

If I want the Diamana S+ Blue 82 shaft for my 913F, would you then recommend S or X flex for me?

    Chris,

That is a stock option, and with that club head speed I would recommend an XS shaft.

    Cameron,

110-115 mph. is with my driver.

I think my clubhead speed is a bit lower with my Fairway. Around 105-108 mph. on normal shots.

Would you still recommend a XS shaft for my Fairway then? Please note that I know it's hard for you to tell.

    Chris,

Yes.  The swing speeds are usually slower with shorter clubs, so it still sounds like you would fit into an XS.  Let the Club Fitter analyze the club head speed and your tempo.

    Cameron,

To end this post I would like to thank you for your effort and time to answer all my questions.

But one last question to get things straight.

With "XS shaft" do you mean a shaft between stiff and x-stif or do you mean x-stiff for my Fairway wood?

    Chris,

X-Stiff.  Let us know if you have any other questions.

What would the cutoff be for x-stiff vs stiff? My driver ss is 105-108. Would you recommend stiff or x-stiff if I'm looking at the s+ 82 for a 19* hybrid? Thanks!

    Chris,

One of the smoothest low spinning/ mid launch shafts I have played is the Oban Kiyoshi. Shaft has a great kick and is very anti-left.

I purchased the diamana stiff shaft in my fairways S+ 82 stiff & hit them a too high, costing me some distance. My driver ss is somewhere between 100-105 range - 153 ball speed with 913 D3 head & the stock Diamana D+ 72 stiff shaft (low launch/low spin)and continued launching over 14* with only 245 carry & 255 total. Last year I played the Fujikura fuel 60 x in my driver and loved it, I just purchased a Fujikura Fuel tour spec 60 stiff (Patriot edition) to replace my 913 driver shaft looking to lower the launch angle & increase the ball speed. You may want to look at the Aldila Phenom 80 shaft or Aldila tour green atx shafts, I found the diamana + shafts to launch higher than expected, you may like the D+ in a tipped stiff or X flex.
