Question for the Team Titleist Staff: I went from the AP1 712 w/ Dynalite Gold XPs, to the AP1 714 w/ Nippon 850s based on a great fitting at Titleist Oceanside.  The lighter total weight is good for me, but I'm less consistent because the swingweight feels too light (went from D5 down to D2, playing 1/4" long in the new set).

At 1/4" long, could I achieve D4 with any of these:

    -Titleist Nippon 970

    -Kuro Kage LBP 85?

Still want a medium or medium-high ball flight and good spin.

    Hi,

If you were ordering a new set of irons, it is possible they could get to a D3 if requested (with the NS Pro 970), D4 if you used the Multi compound grips.  On the Kurokage 85, there would be no problem getting to a D4 if requested.

If you went to the effort to go to Oceanside and get fit why don't you try a simple and very cheap experiment. Get yourself a roll of lead tape. Clear the back of the club with a small amount of acetone and put 1-2 strips on the back of the heads.  Keep applying strips until you achieve the desired swing weight. Nippon 850 is a great shaft and that's what titleist expert fitters fit you for.

In general the lighter the shaft is the heavier the head Need's to be to achieve the same swing weight
