  1. I have a Newport Dual Balance putter and want to change the stock grip to a Flatso mid-17.  My concern is the new grip weighs 100 grams and may distort the putter balance.  Can anyone tell me the weight of a stock Newport Dual balance grip and suggestions to maintain the balance?  the existing grip must go, but don't want to loose the balance.  Thanks

The Dual balance grip weighs approximately 128 grams so you will be losing about 28 grams by switching grips.  Making the grip lighter will change the swingweight and make the head feel quite a bit heavier.

  3. Not that I would encourage this, but you could remove the 50gram weight in the butt and go with an aftermarket butt weight that is 75-80 grams in total weight thus restoring the balance...I find when playing around with the weighting of the dual balance putter the more you experiment the more the more you can dial in what works best for your game.  The balance in your current putter is just a starting point, for what its worth.

    Good Luck!

  4. Thanks for the information

  5. Is it easy to remove the 50 g wt from dual balance x5 when shortening club and regripping? and can it be reused with new replacement grip

    Hi Robert,

I have the same question - how to remove the 50g back weight. Did you ever this resolved?

    Regards,

    Nik

  7. I got the Futura X5 dual balance and have changed the grip to a Superstroke 3.0 grip as I like a thicker grip than what Scotty offers. I know it is 28 grams lighter, so to get the swing weight balanced, will adding lead tape to the butt end work? Or is there a better solution if Scotty doesn't offer a grip like the 3.0? Thanks
  8. The weight is in the shaft
