It seems that every week on television I see more and more pro's playing the Aldila Rogue and Tour AD shafts in their woods. I have been a Fuji Speeder shaft loyalist in recent years because they give me good numbers for spin and launch. Most club fitters in my area do not even have these shafts available to try. Are they worth all the hype, or do I stick with what has worked for me to this point?

The completely unhelpful answer is BOTH.

Most people do not see a harm is staying with what works.  It if ain't broken, don't fix it.  If your current shafts give you the numbers you are looking for, then by all means, stay with it.

But then again, is there any harm in testing them and seeing what happens?  NO!!  I have been just messing with what shafts to buy and it gets a little complicated.  If you look at the custom charts that tells you what to expect out of each shaft, then you will be so confused that you will not know what to do.

That is where I am at right now.  I know that I need to go and see an advanced fitter and really test some of these shafts with someone that knows what they are doing.  I have gone to just the superstore fitters and that has gotten mixed results.  They do not have the shaft options to try, but are mostly nice people (especially if they work on commission).

I hit the ball hard enough that I want somebody a whole lot smarter than me to look at these things.

And that is where I am stuck.

But, I would try them.  what can it hurt???

    Justin,

I say why not try them out. See if something might work a bit better. But not because they were seen on TV but because they are interesting shafts.

I have an AD DI 8 and I play the Motore Speeder VC 7.2TS. They are different (feel, ball flight, workability) but I like them both, go figure.

The fitters should be able to give Titleist a call and get some or all of the shafts you would like to try out.

You just have to try things out to see if there is something "better". But try not to constantly do it as it can mess the game up a bit if it becomes an obsession. For me it comes down to confidence with the club. The differences in shafts (feel and ball flight) are there but they all can work pretty well if you have confidence in them. There are a lot of great shafts and few not so good shafts nowadays imo.

    Good luck.

The Rogue and AD shafts are great shafts. They're worth every penny. However, there are some other great shafts out there. A thorough shaft fitting is the only way to tell which shaft best fits you. If you have an authorized Titleist rep near you, they can get a hold of Titleist to see if they could get the shaft(s) in for you to try out.

Sticking with what works is a good way to shoot lower scores, but, you could see some extra yardage, more consistency, great ball flight, etc., with a shaft/club that's fitted just for you.
