So here is an open ended question. Any answers are appreciated (I know one already - go to a fitter).

Currently playing 714AP 2 irons with KBS C Taper Lite stiff shafts. Have thought of changing to the KBS Tour 90 shaft to get some more distance. Have seen a loss of about 10 yards with the irons in the past year.

The question is, all things considered, how much additional distance would one expect to gain by changing from the C Taper. lite to the Tour 90. We could also throw in some variation like Aerotech shafts, etc.

    Hi Gordon,

    Thanks for the question.

Honestly, it is almost impossible to determine how much distance you would gain by going from the KBS C taper to the KBS 90. If it were simply based on ball speed, I would predict that you would not gain any noticeable distance. However, if the KBS 90's seem to improve launch conditions, you may notice a more significant increase in distance.

I would also check the lofts of your clubs. They may not be to the spec needed.

I would strongly suggest seeing a local fitter and trying both shafts out first.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gordon

Unfortunately you never know how a shaft is going to react until you hit it, I would suggest you to look for a local fitter or retailer with Flightscope, Trackman or whatever launch monitor and see what data you get with both shafts.

    Jose
