I am a 2 handicap and have a driver swing speed of 120. I have had my swoosh VR irons with Project X 5.5 shafts. I am finally getting new clubs because the shafts I currently have are not stiff enough and I tend to hit my iron shots too hight with way too much spin.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what shafts I should get on my new CB irons that I am ordering soon? I went to a golf shop a few days ago and hit a 7iron CB with an x100 shaft. My average numbers were:

-club head speed: 89mph -ball speed: 129mph -back spin: 6840 -total spin: 7000 -carry distance: 188 yds -peak height: 41 yes

Any advice on the results of my experience hitting the CB 7iron with x100 shafts would help. Are these good results as far as spin, peak height, dist, etc? Does the x100 shaft seem to fit my swing? Any shaft recommendations?

    Grindelwald,

Really suggest that you meet up with a fitter, which can help you finding the right shaft.
Even by changing from a 714CB to 716CB, some people migh take a different shaft on them.

You should hit the KBS Tour C-Taper and/or Tour V. You'll get much better results than the X100, with a lower, more controlled ball flight, and better feel. Keep in mind that the KBS shafts run a little stiffer than DGs, so start with the Stiff, then the Stiff+.

Of course, a thorough Titleist Performance Fitting is the best way to go, especially with the amount of money we spend on our irons, but in lieu of that, check out the KBS and see what you think.
