Mu clubs being hard stepped has the 3 iron will become 4 iron length, 4 iron will become 5 iron length and so on. When you hard step, the club lengths will decrease, however, as far as the specs goes, the lengths are still the same for standard and hard stepped clubs (I measured mine). My length for a 7 iron is 37" the standard length is 37". If the 8 iron shaft is supposed to be in the 7 iron and the 8 iron shaft is 36.5", where does the extra 1/2" in the 7 iron come from?

  2. Hi Walt,

When you are hard stepping or soft stepping irons you are not changing the finished build length, but instead how firm or how soft the tip section plays. Raw shafts are one inch longer than the standard finished build length, so that is why we are still able to build to stock specifications.

Thank you, I just learned something I didn't know.
