I have a set of 714 AP1 irons with Dynalite Gold S300 shafts that are 117grams. I love the performance of these shafts, but am looking to change them out due to a recurring elbow issue(at the recommendation of my Dr.) to something in the 90-95 gram range. Is anyone aware of a shaft that would be comparable in performance characteristics, but lighter?

I'm 54 and just switched to a regular flex shafts in my irons was a little anxious at first. But got them in Feb. 16 and am really liking them much easier on wrist and elbow but I get a nice ball flight and actually gained a small amount of distance. My SS with driver is 95-98 hit stiff with all my woods and hybrids but not hitting down on these as I do with irons. Was fit this way at a titleist Thursday event

OHHHH.... you need demo the Steelfiber i95!!!!

If you can find a place to demo these definitely do. I'm 35 years old and started playing when I was 5. So thought of graphite iron shafts throughout those decades was that they were for old guys and women, and plyed like a wet noodle when swinging it. Well times have changed and now there's actually a graphite/carbon fiber iron shaft that's not a wet noodle, that gives a great mid/mid-high flight, that doesn't spin like a top. Basically a graphite shaft that plays like steel, but is lighter, and has the benefits of graphite vs. steel, and helps absorbing impact vibraton.

Over the years I've played most of the high profile steel shafts, PX 5.0 and 5.5 (liked these the most out of all steel shafts), PX High Launch 5.0, KBS Tour stiff (high launch but didn't fit my swing, or the flight I was after), DG S300, DG SL R300, Nippon 1050 (balloned, it'd hit peak height to quick, and fell out of the sky like a dead bird), DG Tour Concept S3 (just didn't get along with, and now discontinued all together), and others like png's stock shafts AWT in some i10 irons, and a few others that I can't remember right now.

But the Steelfiber was the best and is the best I've played. Obiously everyone is different, so it may not work for you. I gained a bit distance and dispersion was just as good if not better than most highend steel shats. And being graphite/carbon fiber the impact on "elbows" is much less dramtic. Also the i95 is the only light weight shaft that gave flight and spin for me like a mid-heavy steel shaft and being extremely light. I did add lead tape to offset the swing weight. Also it's the most played graphite iron shaft on tour. Doesn't mean it's for everyone, but it shows that graphite/carbon fiber shafts have come a loooooong way in a decade.

Anyways, I'd say just keep an open mind, and give them a swing if possible (maybe a quick Google search on reviews to see if it's profile might fit what your after if demoing is not possible).

But ultimately getting fit is king, but saying that I'd definitely give them a look.

    Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the detail Ryan. I have been reading more and more about the advances in carbon/graphite shafts and may give this a try. It looks like it is an option according to the Titleist catalog. I share many of the issues that you mentioned in regards to graphite shafts for irons. My biggest concern is that I hit a naturally high ball and am worried about some ballooning, but they are listed as Low/Mid launch so we will have to see. I think I would need to hit them on the range and not just in a simulator to tell.
