Shaft selection for a fairway wood

  1. Hey everyone.

So I've kind of run into a dilemma when choosing a shaft for a new fairway wood. Most likely a 915/917 4 or 5 wood. I usually hit the ball very high. My average driver swing speed is about 124mph give or take 4 mph. I'm playing Diamana B-series 80X tipped 1/2" with pretty solid results. My backspin might be a tad high at 2500-2600 RPMS. My 20 degree hybrid has a std length Diamana S+ 90X. I want to find a shaft slightly closer on the spectrum to the Blueboard than the Whiteboard that fits in between those two weight wise. The real issue is I haven't the access to test all of the viable shafts out that fit the requirements and I was hoping someone in the community might have a similar situation that has been resolved or some knowledge on the subject. Also, I am open to other suggestions when it comes to brands and whatnot so don't hold back if its not a Diamana.

If you need any other swing parameters, please ask.

    Thanks in advance, Jake

  2. Hi
We have about the same swingspeed and ive been trying out new shaft all winter in both trackman and other indoor simulators. After I hade the same issue with my 3 and 5 wood i did wood testing and came to the result that the new fujikura speeder pro ts 74 gave me and launch thats perfect for me. Still i have several shafts to choose from example tour ad-di 8 and the latest is Ozik hd 7M3.
The best launch and spin(about 3500rpm on my 3wood) is my speeder. When on my driver the Ozik hd 7m3 is superb(driver spin about 2200).
But need to say that its hard to figure out an good shaft which is closer to the blueboard than the whiteboard with your swingspeed and that shaft weight.
If i would be fitting you with that swingspeed I probably give you the SPEEDER PRO 84 Tour spec (89gram) (right in the middle between the blue and with board) and the PROJECT X TOUR ISSUE 8 83gram (closer to the blueboard) and maybe the Oban Devotion 8. But anyhow hard to say more without seeing you hit in a trackman.
This may not have been to any help maby just makes it harder. :)

Get yourself fit and I would worry more about the smash factor than jut spin rate. What is the purpose of the 3 wood, hitting off tee or going in to par 5's.
