For those of you that have gone through a fitting and are getting the AP3 or tried the AP3, are any of you soon to be former AP1 holders or did you decide to keep the AP1s? I have a couple of reasons to look at a new set and have an appointment at a local golf shop on Saturday with one of the Titleist Thursday fitters to readjust iron/hybrid/gap wedge setup. Wondering what my expectations should be.

    Don,

I tried the AP3 and I couldn't miss using a 6 iron, and it also look great.

It will be my next set of irons.

I tried all three and you can't be the consistency of the AP2. The AP3 are hot and they look and feel good but the strong lofts especially in the short irons will kill my game.

Also I am not looking for distance as my swing speed with a 7 iron was 96 MPH.

I was fitted for and ordered the AP3 last week. I think coming from the AP1, you are not going to see a dramatic change in distance as they are actually a degree or two weaker than the AP1. I went from a 46 PW to 43, so I had to add another Vokey to my set, but you may already have something to fill that gap. Feel wise, they are really solid for cast. I tried a dozen shafts and the stock AMT tour white was actually the best performer for me on Trackman.

Let us know how it goes. I can't wait to get mine. I keep hoping, someway, somehow, they show up before release date. The anticipation is killing me. :)

I have the 716 AP2 thinking of going to the 718 AP3 irons once I can find a goof Titleist fitter in my area. I hit them the other day and they were amazing. I gained about 5 yards while maintaining the same control I have with my AP2 irons. They have the look of the AP2 with the feel of the AP1 at address. They are definitely easier to hit then my 716 AP2 irons. With the right shaft combination these irons are going to be a hit! Hope that helps.

havent tried them yet but very interested in them
  7. Went through a less formal fitting process with my local pro. Hit the 718 AP2 and 718 AP3. Believe the shafts were the AMT white s300 and XP105 (tried in both). AP2 felt very good when middled but felt hard when hit off-center. AP3 felt every bit as good as AP2 when middled, and because of the extra forgiveness, the middle was hit more often. Went with set of AP3. Have hit 716 AP1s before and didn't love them. Went with XP105 shafts. AP3 flies high and long, it's forgiving, and it feels very good. Best of luck to you.

I have 716 AP1's with Kuro Kage 85 graphite shafts. I was looking for a little more shaft weight to, hopefully, improve consistency. Unfortunately, the fitter didn't have any of the heavier graphite options to try, so, I basically tried the AP3's with the stock shafts. My iron specs have stayed the same, and, I was only looking at irons.

I did manage to run into the Titleist rep at the driving range, and, I was able to take some swings with the 5, 6, 8, 9, pw, and, uw. I think 6 on down, the AP3's are forgiving enough. (I didn't put a good swing on the 5 iron). If you are considering the AP3's, they should have a full set, and, you can decide for yourself, if they are forgiving enough. The 4 and 5 irons from the 718 AP1 would blend in nicely with the AP3's, but, I, already, have 4 and 5 hybrids(png i25), which, I think might work, so, I only ordered 6-UW AP3's with Recoil 95 shafts.

The 818 hybrids look good, but, with the various loft options, I would be hard pressed to figure out which to get. I may re-visit this after I get my AP3's.

I haven't hit the AP3 yet, but am looking forward to it at the Team Titleist event in a couple weeks. I am a former AP1 player and am hoping the AP3 is a club I can move into without any problem.

I was hoping to try these before making that decision. I really like my 716AP1s, but will see a fitter and give them a try probably at the TT event. Definitely worth trying. Expectations: the feel of the AP2 and the accuracy and distance of the AP1. The best of both clubs and a new assortment of shafts.

My thoughts exactly Chuck, looks like we'll be in the same line at TT. That is assuming all is well down there and the course is open in two weeks.

Mine arrived today (9/12). Leaving work early to hit a few on the range and then 18 tomorrow afternoon.
  15. When did you order your AP3's ? The anticipation is killing me, I ordered mine over this past weekend and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they show up ahead of the release date...
  16. I currently have the 712 AP2's. My fitting is next week and I can't wait! I'm hoping for a little more forgiveness, and honestly, who couldn't use more?

I got the AP2 6-W, and AP3 4/5. I liked the little extra forgiveness in the 4/5. They feel as great as the AP2, glad I got a mixed set, best of both worlds.

I finally had the chance to hit the AP3's and I love them. Looking down at the topline without another club there to reference, they don't look too much different than an AP2. If you put an AP2 and AP3 together, the AP3 blade length is a little longer. I have been using the T-MB's but, I think the thing that is selling me on these AP3's is how forgiving they are. I mishit a shot to the green and I know that my T-MB would not have gotten there. My shot went up in the air (I was shocked when I looked up) and it reached the front of the green. - That's for me! I can't wait to put them in the bag.
