I saw a picture of Stricker's clubs and noticed some differences between his and the model at the stores. The back edge seemed to be ground down,  and it didn't appear to have the tungsten weight on the sole of the clubs (it didn't appear there was a noticeable difference in the color of the metals on the sole ???). Are these custom built for him or is he playing with next years model?

    Any thoughts

I would bet custom fit and ground to his specs.

They are the current AP2 irons with a slight sole relief ground into the trailing edge.  This feature is in the AP2 irons, but Steve wanted a bit more taken off the back.  Otherwise, the clubs are the same, including the tungsten box in the back.

  4. Clubs off the rack are TOTALLY different from what the players play.

    Hi Aman,

Another Team Titleist member, Aman M., asked this question a few weeks ago when we were sitting down with the Titleist Tour Van staff and here is what they had to say...

Aman M. asked: Is the equipment that tour players use a little different from what we use?

As you can see, our Tour Reps start with the same clubs that are available to all golfers and then build them out to the specifications of each player on tour.

"our Tour Reps start with the same clubs that are available to all golfers and then build them out to the specifications of each player on tour".  Sweet I didn't realize that the satin finish was available to the public.  A few retailers have told me that only the glossy chrome is available.  Can we custom order the 710 AP2 with satin finish (I have not seen it in any golf shops)?

    Hi Brad,

The satin finish is not available option for the AP2's. The tour van started with a stock set of AP2's and then built them out to specs for Steve Stricker, including the finish. However, if you have been following the the tour seeding and performance validation updates we've posted on the new prototype irons, you may have noticed that the prototype MB and CB irons (712 series) do feature a satin finish.

  8. Are the 712 AP2s going to be glossy chrome only as well, no satin option?

Here are some more details on his set-up straight from the Tour Van...

    710 AP2 with a satin/brushed finish and KBS C-taper S+ shafts.
All irons are .25" longer than standard
Steve has his 7 iron through Pitching Wedge bent 1o strong

Those are some pretty looking golf clubs!!  They look good enough to win the US Open!

That's pretty cool, and I guess because the grind is in the Tungsten box portion that they won't rust out over time. Never thought you would be able to do that with these irons....figured the tungsten part would be too thin and you would go right through into the cavity. May have to give it a try as I have a 3 iron that I hit with way too much spin and too high that is sitting on the side lines.

He got professionally fitted from Titlesit, and they built it to his specs, so they are different
