There have been a lot of great PGA Championship venues and Oak Hill is definitely on my list when it comes to top notch classic designs.

Playing most of my golf here in New England, it's great to see a tree-lined course with a lot of guarded greens... but what about all of you? What course ranks at the top of your list of recent PGA Championship venues?

Loved Kiawah, and can't wait for the return to Whistling Straits. Give me unique venues that don't look just like a U.S. Open.

  3. Definently Whistling Straits or Kiawah. When the wind gets to blowing at Kiwah its one of the toughest tracks and Whistling Straits I think is the most intimidating course visually.

The Straits course at Whistling Straits (2015 is coming).  I can go with Bandon Dunes as plan B.  Links courses are how golf should be played, but we can't all be on the sandy edge of a large body of water. Looking forward to Pinehurst #2 next year, with the more natural revision to see if that should be the US prototype.  I've gone 180 from Augusta National as the way a golf course should appear.

However, if anyone wants to offer me a chance to play Augusta - I'm still there....

Being from Rochester, NY and having the opportunity to play Oak Hill a number of times, I'm clearly biased.  I absolutely love that track and can't wait to see it in action in a couple of days.  That said, it's still Rochester and winter is a coming and coming fast.  Makes for a short, but enjoyable golf season!!

    Hi Mike,

Absolutely loved Whistling Straits (Straits Course) and Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands).  Both had great finishing stretches in which it would be easy to put up a large number with a wayward tee shot.

I had the chance to work out at Kiawah during the PGA and it was an absolute beast, just a magnificent test of championship golf. I also enjoyed Atlanta the year before, and Medinah No. 3 comes in high on the list. Also, being from Charlotte, NC; I can't wait to see the PGA at Quail Hollow in 2017. In general, I love the PGA's willingness to commit to less conventional courses, both from a design and location standpoint.

  9. I think that Inverness should be back in the "line-up".

    I like the classic venues.

Southern Hills was always a challenge for the Pros.

Medinah #3 is an awesome track as well.

Tops on my list is easily Whistling Straits. Kiawah is right up there too. I have always been a fan of Valhalla also.
