  1. I am a Mechanical Engineering student, and I would love to be in the golf club design field. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight on whether this choice of field would be reasonable? How good is Titleist with internships, aside from aspiring teaching pros? Also, is it a field that would have an open job market? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Marcus,

I posed your question regarding choice of field to the heads of our metal woods and irons teams.  Here is their reply:

Marcus is in the correct field of study to pursue a career in the golf industry in the future.  By studying Mechanical Engineering, he will have learned valuable skills of design, materials, and analysis/testing.

We do not currently have engineering interns in R&D for Titleist Golf Clubs.  We would encourage Marcus to explore internships where he could develop CAD design, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or Product Development/Management skills.  Those skills would make him a desirable candidate for future R&D opportunities with the Acushnet Company.

    Hope that helps!

    Cathi,

Great job going above and beyond to provide some guidance to a future potential asset to Acushnet/Titleist or some of the other golf manufacturer's R & D teams....!! We need to encourage continued interest in the field.......as we say on the course "better golf through technology"....!!!

  4. Cathi,

This helps me a lot. Giving me a sense of direction that will better prepare me for a place in this field is very considerate. I will definitely consider what you and your colleagues have said, and start my pursuit as soon as possible. Thank you very much, and I will do my best to follow your advice!
