Looking to upgrade my irons from TM 2.0's to titleist AP1 or AP2. I shoot right around mid 80's to low 90's. Does anyone know if the AP1's are similar to the TM 2.0's? Are the AP2's hard to hit consistently like people are saying? Thanks!

John-
I love my 2008 AP2's!!!! very solid and forgiving...make sure you get the proper fit...you won't be disappointed.
I know nothing about TM products but the AP2's are the best irons on the market.
When you hit a 7 iron it's a true 7 iron...not a setup that says 7 and is actually a 5 iron.

+1
I was hitting my previous Mizzy's much further that the AP2 then found out that Mizzy dialed up the lofts...Standards should be followed by all the OEMs but sadly the marketing department run some companies.

I like my AP1s. AP1s stick greens. I can also do things like long bunker shots. They do work the ball reasonable.
I carry only 8-PW because I have been using a 34* hybrid since about 2009. I recently broke 40 for 9 holes (+2) using the setup of driver, 5W, 5-7H, 8-PW, 54-60-64. I play to a 12 handicap.

John,
I tried both AP1 and AP2. In fact, I bought a fitted set of AP2s (I told the fitter i wanted forged and was a 12 handicap at the time -- logic being that if I wanted to get better I had to learn how to hit forged clubs that better players used). Well, after 3 months and about 10 tournaments (where I found out just how short a mis-hit flies!), I went back to the fitter and tried every iron and shaft on the market. I was fit to AP1s. Fast forward thru this golf season and I am now an 8 handicap and trending lower. AP1s have a lot to do with this. They are long and the irons land and stick on the greens. Long irons (4 & 5) are easy to hit.
The one thing you will have to get used to is that your TM irons have stronger lofts and tend to have slightly longer shafts. Since there are no "legal" guidelines for iron lofts and length, just "standard" industry lofts & shaft lengths, TM uses this loophole to tweak their irons (loft & shaft length) so that they can claim that their 5 iron fles further than other brands.
Hope this helps.

I hit the TM 2.0 irons for a while and I like them, but I am going back to Titleist AP1's. Just personal preference and I like that I can do everything with the AP1 I was doing with the TM2.0. And there are a few better shaft options to make it that much better. Just have to schedule a fitting at my course when I am healed from an injury so I can have them ready for the start of 2014.

I am currently playing AP1 and have been very happy. Dropping 8 strokes from my hanicap over 2 years. I am a 14 hcp, shooting in the high 80's.
I will be getting new irons (again Titleist) and likely the new AP2. I have hit demo AP2's and have had no issues with them being hard to hit. I don't have a problem with off centre hits but even when I intentionally hit off centre to see what happens, I found good distance and plenty of feedback.
TM is notorious for strong lofts. Their 4 iron is really closer to a 3 iron loft, so yes they "go farther" but thats just marketing gimmick. I also found the miz JPX825 Pro to be a great club. My home course sells Titleist but the miz is a strong contender. Be prepared to have to get new fairway metals and wedges as well, because of the strong loft on TM's the distance gaps will need to be addressed when changing to Titleist.

You should go out and demo both of them because the ap2's arent like EXTREMELY Different from the ap1's except that they are forged and have a slightly thinner topline which more experienced players prefer. its all a matter of how well you hit them and if you like their look.
