Is there a Team Titleist in Ohio?  Can't seem to find any posts concerning one.  Any interest in getting together in the 2014 season?

  2. Would enjoy having a TT Ohio event...maybe we can gather everyone at some point if not this winter but potentially for the spring?? Not sure where most TT Members are from in the area but I would be willing to host some people at my course which is north of Cincinnati?  We have done this for our Scotty Cameron group before and had a blast!

I'm not from Ohio, but I'm right on the Indiana/Ohio border, just 45 min from Cincinnatti and would be interested in playing some golf with others.

I am retiring June 30th of 2014 and will be living 60 miles north of Cincinnati and would be interested in playing next year.

    Thanks

I'm in. I live just outside of cleve and don't mind the drive. Sometime in the summer would be great. Maybe we can get Titleist to pitch in something.  I don't know how to do it but a Facebook post may help get a group going.??

I live in Columbus, and lets get something together in 2014!!!

  8. Sounds like we have a group without too much problem! Should we pick out a date now or just wait until early spring and get this thread going again?  Thoughts...

I would think picking a date in spring would be fine, as peoples long term or semi long term schedules can change pretty easily.  Something else to consider would be day of the week, I'd prefer a Friday as it's simply the best fit for me, but, can do Saturday as well.  Just my quick thoughts on it, thanks.

I am open to a Friday if that works for the group.

I'll keep an eye on this thread as I will be in the Cincinnati area around the end of June, beginning of July.  This sounds like a good idea for your area.  I play golf with two other TT members in the El Paso area (Marc Schultz and Tim Glapa).

I would say lets throw out some options and see where everyone wants to play.  Unfortunately we may have a few months to work on it.

Yeah Chris, we have enough to get a game going.  From where I live I will probably have drive time and maybe overnight stays depending on where we play so I'd rather we waited till spring just because of weather.  But, I'll play down to about 50 degrees provided there is no rain in the forecast.

I don't know if you or any of the others use Ohio Golf Guide:  http://www.ohiogolfguide.com/ to check out courses.  They have Ohio in four areas: NE, NW, SE, SW, and Central.  I have played some of the NE and SE and hope to travel to the other areas next season.  Maybe each of us should pick their first and second choices for our kickoff round.

    I'll suggest:
    Longerberger, Nashport, OH  http://www.longabergergolfclub.com
    The Quary, Canton, OH   http://www.quarrygolfclubggp.com/

Like I said before I live just across the border into Indiana and would love to be able to round with others.  The course isn't that big a deal to me, more the location, as I'd prefer a max of 2-2.5 hours drive each way.  A bit farther is still an option, as an overnight stay is not likely for me.  But, who knows by then.  I will defer to whatever course is selected, just the ability to join and play is enough for me.

Longaberger is obviously legit being the #1 Public course in Ohio.  I like the looks of the Quarry in Canton area, Allen have you played there?  There are nice courses down by Cincy also that are close to be good; Shaker Run used to be #2 public in Ohio.  Stonelick HIlls and Aston Oaks are courses I've heard about down by Cincy also.  I will check with some people and see if I can stir something up in the Columbus area.  Weather turning bad and I'm getting pumped already!!!!

Hi Dan, have not played either the Quarry or Longerberger, and I haven't played in your area at all since the 1960's.  Never played around Columbus either.

Ya Allen, Longaberger is legit but carries a $100 price tag on weekends.  I've found it for $50 on golfnow and thats when I go out there due to I'm on the west side of Columbus and still takes me 1 hour and 15 to drive out there so it is close to nothing.  I'm not opposed to driving anywhere it will be about 2 hrs for me to get near cleve and 2 hours to get towards Cincy.  I've driven down to play TPC Rivers Bend and back in the same day but that course was worth the drive and I have no connections to get us on there.  Interesting bit for Chris and others that travel to the TT events; does everyone just spring last minute and grab flights to play in those things?  I'm assuming TT picks up the green fee or the course just comps it but how early do they pick people to get flights and last minute flights could be rough.  Just wondering.

Born and raised in Cincy and moving back there in 2 weeks. I used to live on Aston Oaks and yes it is a nice course but StoneLick Hills is by far an amazing course. It a tough challenging course but has some fun holes and holes #9 and #18 are fun.

Bear, good info.  I keep track of top public courses from the major magazines as I used to travel a lot with work and you never know when you get to take the sticks and the opportunity presents itself.  Came in pretty handy a few times since I got burned on a family vacation by not doing my homework before going to a place like Tampa.  For everyone that cares, DO NOT PLAY AIRCO Golf course, haha.  First one in the phone book and right next to the airport.  747's literally flying over head taking off and landing while you are trying to hit.  I'm still hearing it from my dad and uncle about that one.  I'm down for whatever side of state we want to go, just going to be cool to play and meet everyone.

Looking like there is enough interest to possibly get 3 groups to play.  This is sounding better an better and it's still months away, lol.

Hopefully, we have people of matching skill levels and age closeness.  Not sure that exactly what to call it.

I'll say that I'm 39, play to a 6 hdcp. and normally I play the back tee's, but do play the next ones forward if the others I'm playing with prefer it.  I even play the senior tee's when I play with my dad an his buddies, but they don't allow me to hit driver or 3w, lol.  Would be great if we got a team game, if we had enough for it. Something simple an a small amount, but enough to brag about later, lol.

Yeah Tyson, this is beginning to take some momentum.  Hope we can get enough interest to gain some bargaining power over green fees at some point.

I no longer have an official handicap, but hope to have a membership on the Robert Trent Jones Trail late next year so I can winter down south and run a handicap again.  On good days I'm in the 70's and on one of my bad ones in the 80's playing from the whites.  A course I have played well on and know the layout, then I'll go for the back tee's.  66 years old, retired, and I'm good for a game any day of the week.

Hey guys, we are gaining momentum for sure and if only the warm weather were doing the same.  I think we could work out some stuff with some local courses for sure.  I've got my stats listed on my profile and not sure how much people can see but it says I'm a 13 hcp right now and I am using that as motivation but feel somewhat limited in doing much about it right now.

I'm 32, married and have 2 daughters (3 & 7 months) and if I hit 20 rounds I'm doing alright the last couple years.  In 2006, at 25 I worked for a ProGolf in Indiana and played 50-60 rounds that year and played down to 6-8 hcp range.  My best score that year was a 69 on a Par 70 that I grew up playing near where I grew up.  I was set to play college baseball but retired before I started and have been converting from the bomber to control style golf game ever since.  I enjoy playing the back tees and never get the chance it seems similar to Tyson's story, when I play with my dad it is not fun for him to take the length of the course on.  The longest course I've played was Purdue's Kampen course from the tips coming in at anywhere from 7400-7600 yds right before they tipped it out to 7800 and change for NCAA Men's Championship in 2008.  At that distance I find it hard not to try to kill it and get your game out of sync.  My problem this year is feeling that you play a few rounds and start to figure a few things out then get busy take a few weeks off then start it over.  While playing seriously I am shooting for 75-85 range so I'm thinking we all will have a lot of fun.

I'm pretty easy company and enjoy playing golf when I can as you can see.  I'm the kind of guy that will show up and play a new course and join a foursome and hit the tee.  Getting anxious to play already!!!

  23. I'm pretty much in the middle of everything. Depending on when, and where, I'd play. Longaberger's nice. I've played all over Ohio. There are a lot of nice courses all around. Cincinnati. Columbus/Dublin. cleve. Toledo. Findlay. We'll have to think of something. Or, say, Pebble? Sawgrass? Anybody up for a nice trip?

Representing TT @ Longaberger just this summer!!!  Next to my Titleist Hole in One bag tag!

  25. Nice!

Longaberger would be nice. It plays just a tad over 7,200 yards. Well maintained. Huge range. Guess that's on the list. How far is everybody willing to travel, is the question? Not too sure if the folke up North would want to drive 3-4 hours to Nashport. Once we figure out how far everyone's willing to drive, then we can start dialing in a few NICE courses.

I see that Team Titleist Texas has a Facebook page set up.  Do we need or want one for Ohio?  Being retired with plenty of time during the off season this year I could set one up pretty quick.  It is a good place to post photos, upcoming events, and other info.

I would say if you can do it go ahead and do it and we'll get the word out.  David I agree Longaberger is a long drive away for everyone.  I have heard of a nice course in Findlay as well and seems like we have several people in Cincy area so a game down there would be real easy to put together.  Allen you and I may just need to car pool if we go West for a game.  We will have to see, still about 4 months out it would seem.

  28. Couple of GREAT courses in the Findlay area.

I like how we plan this now, lol. We still have a few months. It's better to get things situated beforehand, though.

I live in the SW Columbus area, been a Team Titleist member for awhile. Just requested to join the TT Ohio group, I would enjoy some friendly competition and love to play in some TT events on weekends. I have a couple of friends that might want to play, one of them is a Titleist player throughout the entire bag, the other is a TM guy that plays Pro V1x exclusively, however neither of them are currently TT Members. We play together every Sunday, playing a different course each week, travel the Central Ohio area. John (TM guy) & I play in the 9 Star 2-day best ball events played at Eaglesticks GC & Longaberger GC each year.

Living near the area, have you had the chance to play NCR? I've played it a few times. Obviously, the South course is amazing, but, the North isn't too shabby.

  37. I am from the Cincinnati/Dayton Area, have played NCR many times...nice track...definitely one of the nice layouts for Ohio.  PGA Senior, US Mid Am, and lots of other great tournaments in recent years...

Play NCR every couple of weeks...patiently waiting for next spring when the South opens up.  Drove a cart around the South, before the real bad weather hit, and the greens look immaculate (already).

Alan, I have played Red Hawk a couple of times and it is a great course up in your neck of the woods but you are right Longaberger is a sweet layout.  We are fortunate to have lots of great tracks in our state...this is going to be tough narrowing it down to one periodically! LOL

Just getting this near the top.  I know not all that might be interested are on Facebook, so this is there only piece of information.  Right now it seems we are looking at a May 23 date, it's a Friday, which may or may not work on everyone schedule, as I'm sure any day someone won't be available, as we all have jobs, family, and normal life influences.  Course is still open an, hopefully others can chime in on a course.  I am taking a vacation day that day to play and hopefully spend a bit of time afterwards relaxing, bs'ing, and whatever.  Like everyone else, I'm awaiting the weather to break enough to get out an play a few rounds.  My two youngest kids start golf practice the last week of March.  So, hope it breaks before then, lol.

  45. I am looking forward to the May 23 (or whatever the final date it) for the initial TT Ohio Event!  Should be a great day!!

I am interested.  I live near cleve and have no problem traveling.  The suggestions for The Quarry and Longaburger are great.  Also one to consider is Eaglestyx in Zanesville.  What might be really fun would be to do a couple of outings in different parts of Ohio.  There are some wonderful courses in NW Ohio!

Keep me in the loop about this for the spring and hopefully I can get time off for this. My dad is a member at Traditions ( hoping to become a junior member myself) in Northern Kentucky. Once I get settled in my new job I'll most likely be residing around the Dayton/Centerville, Ohio area and will have some ideas of courses around that area.
