I wanted to recognize Bob Beach who was awarded the 2013 Patriot Award from the PGA of America. Take a look at the video below that combines Bob speech at the PGA awards banquet as well as a video that PGA.com produced as it really does capture the essence of Bob - a very humble and giving man. (and he has a great Boston accent!)
Bob, a PGA head professional at Braintree (Mass.) Municipal Golf Course, who for nearly two decades has been a lead instructor in the New England PGA Section for teaching golf to the physically challenged. Bob is a neighbor in my hometown, and I have personally witnessed the tireless hours he spends week after week at Braintree Muni and indoors using simulators during the cold winter months of New England. I have also had the opportunity to play golf with many of the veterans and disabled golfers featured in the video and know that Bob given each of them the tools and motivation to enjoy the game of golf.
Bob was honored by the Mayor of Braintree who declared today "Bob Beach Day in Braintree, MA" :-)
Congrats Bob - well deserved.
