Seems like the trend with grip size is bigger is better.  I have have gone to 2 layers of grip tape under golf pride multi-compound grips.  My hands are not big, if anything they are probably on the small size.  I've noticed when you buy new clubs (I just got the new 913 driver) the grips on the clubs are not big.  I have cut off many grips so know that the normal grip size seems to be 1 wrap of tape.  Is it all how it feels or is there some other factors I need to consider?  Are there negatives to playing with grips too large?

In my opinion, grips that are too large would restrict the release. However, many like how larger grips allow them to be more agressive on the downswing with less fear of a snap hook. Moreover, if you like the way it feels, use it.

How your grip feels is important however there are other factors that should be considered. Grip size- to determine if the grip is the correct size for hands take your normal grip with both hands. Then take the right hand off the club. If the fingers of your left hand are just touching the inside of your left thumb then the grip is the correct size. If the finger tip are inside or covered by the palm side the grip is too small. If there is a gap between the finger tips and thumb the grip is to large.

Other things to consider : if you have physical problems gripping using larger grips helps in holding the club especially at impact. Also grip size has an effect on swingweight.. A larger grip will shift weight towards the butt end thus the club head will feel light. A lighter or small grip will have the opposite effect.

Grip size is not only a personal thing but it does have some effect on your play.  If the grip is small you will have a tendency to release your hands through the shot and it is easier to draw the ball.  On the other side, if the grip is to larger, players have the tendency to fade or slice the ball.
