So it seems as if Bethpage will have a new neighbor worthy of a PGA Tour event...

Trump Ferry Point, due to open spring of 2015, has an agreement withthe PGA Tour to host the Barclays in 2017 & 2020. And the course hasn't opened its doors to the public yet. WOW!!! Yeah, it'll cost $125 to play there but it WILL get a lot of play. I guess it would open up Bethpage and it's pace of play should improve some.

I used to live in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx, maybe 10 minutes from Ferry Point. I might be wrong, but I don't think the folks that play Pelham/Split Rock and Van Cortland Park are going to rush over to Ferry Point to pony up $ 125.00 per round, regardless of who's name is attached to the course. The Bronx, Queens and lower Westchester County are inhabited by mostly Blue Collar folks. Police and Fireman,Construction workers ( Which I was one for 40 years.) Civil Service and Hospital workers and Office workers that work for the likes of Donald Trump. Hourly wage workers. Yeah, people will come to check it out, but don't expect the "Dawn Patrol" every Sat & Sun or the Twilight people after work or the Weekday regulars to show at those prices.

I live in the Bronx and work at Pelham Bay/Split Rock golf courses. I agree with Frank P., most of us will probably check it out, but won't be a regular. I think DT wants the high price to keep play down, with less wear & tear of his course.  I also think, he wants the "select few" playing his course.
