Was just reading Hogan's "Five Fundamentals" and am wondering - what is the consensus about those times being relevant with the "modern" golf swing. I am guessing there is no right/wrong answer, and that each individual's if different. Just thought I would generate some discussion and test the waters.

I'd say he is if you are a golf fan or historian. There's alot to still be learned from the Hawk!

I would say it is absolutely relevant , I don't care if it's a modern swing or classic style swing, it's all about getting the club square thru the impact area. I think it's to take the fundamentals of your golf swing and apply what you read ,see or have been taught, maybe thru your own local PGA professional and adapt to your own swing and body type.

My two cents, play well !

I believe that there are several things relevant with Hogan's "Five Fundamentals".  I believe his grip, stance and posture, first part of the swing (takeaway) and second part of the swing (the actual swing) is definitely relevant.  The difference between Hogan's swing and the modern swing might be the release of the upper body after impact, meaning the elimination of the reverse "C" to a straighter body profile at completion.  How can someone argue with one of the best ball strikers to ever play this game.  I am definitely putting some elements of Hogan's swing into my modern swing to see if this tightens my shot making.
